Update: This project has been funded! Hooray! However, we're still accepting backers! Actual self-publishing costs are in excess of $1800. Thank you!
I am a young mother of an adorable 3 year old son, and hope to have another child soon! Parenting with Chronic Pain and Fibromyalgia has been exhausting and overwhelming; and at times it has been difficult for my son to understand why I hurt, why I am in pain, why I can't always play with him.
When I realized there were absolutely no childrens books available to help my son, I decided to take it on, and wrote my own! My goal is help other children and parents cope with the stresses of living with chronic pain; I'm doing this for the millions of parents and children who struggle with chronic illness every. single. day. Yes, it's challenging, but I refuse to give up! This book is sorely needed in our community.
My book guides children and parents through a regular day in the life of a mother with FM, and her son, and offers cognitive shifts, ideas, and joyful tips on how to get through the day. It also gives children the power to help their parent/caregiver. Read the full story.
All funds will go to costs involved in self-publishing this book, and purchasing equipment associated with promotion and sales (cash boxes, displays, ect.) At this point, the book is complete, and the cover is almost complete as well! We expect it to be published in June or July 2014. We will be creating our own ebook as well, which will be $3.95. The paperback version will retail for $9.95, and will be available on Amazon & Barnes and Noble, as well as other retailers.
Thank you all!
Risks and challenges
I have an extensive and well-researched/prepared promotion and marketing plan, and have been promoting my book and "brand" (The Potomac Falls Mama - expert on parenting with Chronic Disease) for over a year.
The book is complete and ready to publish; but unfortunately no publishers have offered to support the book. I do not expect any obstacles in completing this project. The only risk I foresee is unexpectedly low sales for the book. Thank you for your support!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
