About this project
This is a really exciting opportunity to bring to life a piece written especially for me by a great living composer, Roger Petrich. This will be a historical archive recording made with the composer's input in regards to performance style.
I have been a professional trumpeter for over twenty years, having studied at the Juilliard School and performed all over the world.
Complete information about myself can be found at www.PaulNeebe.com
This will be my third solo CD recording and the second one with orchestra. My first CD, "Te Deum," consists of trumpet and organ works interspersed with solo organ pieces and is on the German MDG Label. Sound excerpts can be found under the recordings tab at www.PaulNeebe.com. My second CD, "American Trumpet Concertos," contains solo trumpet works with orchestra on the Albany Records label. Small samples can be found on Apple iTunes.
This piece titled "Zatten" is written in three movements for Trumpet and String Orchestra. The composer Roger Petrich has ancestral roots in Zatten, Poland; hence the name. In addition to two other pieces for trumpet, previously recorded on my "Te Deum" CD, Petrich has written many other instrumental and choral works. To find out more about Roger Petrich you may go to his website at http://www.diaphoramusic.net/.
Conductor Steven White and I have worked together for many years with the Roanoke Opera. We both respect each others musical tastes highly and enjoy working with each other. For the past few years, Maestro White has conducted at the Metropolitan Opera, one of the best Opera Houses in the world. I really look forward to working with him. Three other pieces specifically commissioned and written for me are planned for this CD. They were composed by Eddie Bass, Richard Cioffari and Walter Ross. A separate funding campaign is planned for these works. You can learn more about these composers on their websites: Richard Cioffari www.manducamusic.com/cioffari.htm, Eddie Bass www.c-alanpublications.com/composers/bass-eddie.html, Walter Ross http://people.virginia.edu/~wbr/
The orchestra is the Slovak State Philharmonic Orchestra of Kosice. I have heard the orchestra in person and met with the musicians and personnel manager. I am confident in their abilities and look forward to this project.
With this being my third recording, I am aware of the work a project like this requires and am confident that I can complete this successfully. To do so, I have cleared my calendar for August to devote the entire month for continued practice and preparation. The orchestra is already booked for a September recording session, the music will be hand delivered at the end of June. All that's left between now and then is fund raising!
Note: All backers will have the option to be on an email update list. Those pledging over $500 have the option to be listed as a donor in the CD booklet. Excess funds received will go towards recording the other three trumpet concertos on the CD.
Risks and challenges
While recording my second CD, I had a few obstacles such as cover-book design and problems with a music rental agency. Since then I've found a wonderful artistic designer. In addition, these music parts are finished and ready to go.
I'm excited to work on this project with a living composer and a fabulous conductor. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks for your support.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
No, there are trumpet concertos by three other composers. They are; Eddie Bass “Suite Concertante”, Richard Cioffari “Concerto Iberico”, and Walter Ross “Trumpet Concerto”.
One dollar is the minimum pledge. I wouldn't complain if it were more!
Backers have the option to not receive a reward at all or may choose a reward at a lower tier than the amount pledged.
