  •  Sal’s Train to the Nightmaresphere is a role playing game about a street smart city born jerk named Sal from Dumpster City, who due to a strange turn of events finds himself traveling the multiverse to save a bizarre linkage between worlds called the Nightmaresphere. But he’ll quickly find that he’s not the only one trying to set things, right, and even that there are a lot of people who would rather see the Nightmaresphere torn apart.
  • The gameplay in Nightmaresphere is equally focused on exploring unknown worlds as it is fighting strange enemies. The combat is focused on managing your partners, using your inventory, landing special timed attacks, interacting with the world around the fight, and working to counter your enemy’s attacks. Beyond the individual fights themselves, there is a system of special gear for each individual character that can optimize their attacks and vary a variety of unique skills and moves.
  • While the minimum goal of $2500 will be enough to make a fun game we hope you’ll enjoy, there’s plenty of potential beyond that to make the game itself even better, and to enhance your experience outside of the game itself. For every thousand dollars raised past the minimum goal, an additional world will be added to the game beyond the current eight worlds planned, with up to a maximum of seven additional worlds. And for every five hundred dollars between that a more unique special goal will happen! The full details can be found below:

Risks and challenges

An early challenge with making Nightmaresphere was my own personal difficulty crafting a direction from the side of programming, which, down the line, could have potentially caused problems with the player experience not being polished to the best extent. This has also resulted in a certain unfortunate lack of polish in the earliest tests of the game. Fortunately, the experience I've gained making this prototype has given an extremely helpful perspective on how the project should be created on the technical side. In addition, I've begun to collaborate with a more experienced programmer who's shown clear knowledge in how to achieve the matters that I've struggled with.

Another challenge is on the business side rather than the development side, and that's going to be bringing the game to consoles. Console development of course requires a developer kit, and obviously the approval of the console manufacturers themselves. It could be very difficult for a small project to get noticed and approved, even if there is enough demand for it that the project could be funded. Despite this, I believe that with your help in trying to demonstrate interest in the games coming to as many platforms as possible, that the game can be brought anywhere there's interest.
