What is the Prox Box?
The Prox Box is an enclosure designed specifically for the proxmark3. It protects your proxmark3 while still providing access to core components and allows the operator better mobility during engagements.
The proxmark3 is open source hardware/software originally developed by Jonathan Westhues that enables sniffing, reading and cloning of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tags. It is considered the “gold standard” when it comes to RFID research. Don't have a proxmark3 but want one? We are manufacturing this as well and have a reward tier for you too :)
Design History of the Prox Box
We have gone through a couple designs to get to where we are today. The final version has a good balance of port accessibility, protection, and overall function.
Starting with CAD:
CNC prototype to test layout and overall feel:
Back to CAD to incorporate a button and minor layout issues:
To sample run:
Proxmark3 installed in the Prox Box. Push button working and all core components are accessible:
Help get production started
After several iterations of designing, testing, and sourcing manufacturers, we are finally ready to bring Prox Box to the community. But we need your help to fund our initial order.
Silicon molds tend to break/loose accuracy after a set amount of use so we decide to go with an (more expensive) injection mold. Your funds will go towards the creation of the mold and production run of Prox Box.
In return for your support, we are offering a variety of packages that we hope you love.
Proxmark3 Kit contains: Proxmark3, LF antenna, HF antenna, cables, and 3 sample tags. This custom manufactured kit is specific to Kickstarter.
Risks and challenges
1. We already have prototypes made and they are currently being tested for functionality and durability. Assuming no changes to the design, we will manufacture as soon as funding is received.
2. We have the assistance of an Industrial Design firm. We have experience with toolmakers and manufacturers who are ready to fulfill our orders once the campaign has ended.
3. Delays and unforeseen circumstances can sometime occur. Although highly unlikely, our supporters and backers will be the first to know should something arise.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
