Ziza is our gift for Burning Man 2014. Built off of an F-350 pick-up truck, Ziza is an oasis of pillows, billowing curtains, world music, and all different types of tea. The bottom floor of Ziza will be a fluffy lounge and the top deck will have both a seating area as well as a small dance platform. Our roof deck will have a shade structure which will mimic the arches of caravansaries.
*UPDATE* We've decided to add a stretch goal to our Kickstarter! If we can reach $5,560 ($700 more than our current goal), we can upgrade from a decent sound system, to a REALLY nice one. The upgraded sound would be more clear & crisp, a bit louder, much lighter, and draw less power. Having smaller, lighter sound also means we'll have more room on deck for all of you! Let's go above and beyond, and hit this stretch goal!
Every morning, Ziza will be parked at Burn After Reading Magazine Cafe, where we serve hundreds of cups of hand-roasted coffee each day. Following that, she will roam the Playa gifting iced tea and shade. At night, we will tour different art installations creating impromptu tea parties. Our hot tea and cozy space will provide a place to warm up on cold Playa nights.
Our camp, Raised By Wolves, has a Portland-based crew who is extremely excited about building Ziza.
Our team is purchasing the base truck out of pocket and what we need from you is a little help so we can acquire all the other Ziza supplies.
Here's an approximate break down of what we need to create Ziza:
- Lumber, steel, plywood, and hardware for the bottom & top decks - $1,800
- Lots of paint to create the Pakistani truck inspired designs - $300
- LEDs, controllers, chargers & batteries - $600
- Speakers - Two tops & a sub for high quality sound - $900
- Fabric, curtains & stuffing to create that comfortable lounge - $500
- Decor items like hanging lanterns & a handmade Ziza tea sign - $400
With your help, Ziza will offer refreshing tea, shade and comfort for Burning Man 2014 and beyond! Please feel free to reach out to us with questions, concerns or thoughts.
Thank you for your continued support!

Risks and challenges
Ziza is a large, complex project and we know that unexpected challenges may present themselves, but we are totally prepared! We have an extremely knowledgable build crew, numerous skilled friends and a fantastic, talented community. We also have personal money set aside for the project in the event that an emergency arises.
The number one foreseeable challenge is our time restraints. We only have 5 months to build Ziza before Burning Man. We've prioritized all the aspects of our build so we know what is 100% necessary to get Ziza to Playa this year and what we can add on for later years if we run out of time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
