Does holding your iPad fatigue your hands? Does standing your Kindle on the table pain your neck while you read and poke? Do you wish you could move about while using your device? Look no further...look at eye level!
iWorm works simply: it suspends a tablet PC or eReader in front of you at the best distance and angle for your eyes. Use it while standing or sitting! How many places can you imagine using this? I can name at least over 9,000!
Research has shown that sitting for long periods of time and that looking at a screen at awkward angles contributes to all sorts of adverse health problems. I need your money to continue commercializing this invention. Thus far, I've done all the prototyping, conceptualizing, and industrial designing (see pictures below). With the money, I will find a professional industrial designer, finalize a manufacturing design and begin an initial production run. The iWorm you see is only a prototype. With some more help, iWorm can become something more than a pet project!
I plan to implement detachable gooseneck arms (as opposed to welded ones like on the prototype) and make the back panel flat and ergonomic, with memory foam. Instead of microsuction tape, the final model will use a mount, which will be much more secure. The final version will not have smiley face foam balls as cushions. Also, instead of after-market silicone tubing for brewing beer, it will be coated in a consumer friendly silicone.
Currently, I'm collaborating with a firm with extensive experience in engineering and manufacturing. They have engineers, designers, and in-house manufacturing expertise with offices in both California and Shenzhen. They will help me bring this product to fruition. Their decades of manufacturing experience will ensure the project gets completed in a timely and professional manner.
Don't buy into the other "ergonomic" solutions out there: this is the best! Stop craning your neck and get out of your seat. Get a 'Worm for your Apple today!
Risks and challenges
The methods of producing a single prototype are not the same as those used for large-scale production. However, I have been communicating with a sourcing and engineering firm throughout the prototyping process. I am confident in their abilities and mine to complete this project successfully. They have extensive experience in engineering and manufacturing.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
