Be part of teaching American high school students about Ireland!

The US-Ireland Alliance is a non-profit organization that builds ties between the US and the island of Ireland.   We will create curriculum materials so American high school teachers may teach their students about Ireland.

Our first class module will be on the Irish Famine.  Many people are already contributing their considerable talents:

Irish poet Eavan Boland has given us permission to use one of her poems for this project.  We are raising money to create a short video around the poem, That the science of cartography is limited.

Maureen Murphy, Hofstra professor who created a Famine curriculum for schools in the state of New York, is contributing her expertise.

Irish producer Joanne McGrath volunteered to produce the shoot in Ireland and Atomic Fiction, a special effects company will also lend a hand.

Mitchell Scholar Katie Van Winkle, a theatre student at NUI Galway volunteered to help with the project as an actor.  Joan Bergin, winner of several Emmy Awards for costumes for The Tudors, has provided the costume for the video.

Tony-nominated Irish actress Dearbhla Molloy volunteered to record the poem for our film.

We are seeking to raise $2,500 for this project to cover payment for a cameraman, editing, and travel associated with the filming, recording and editing.
