Vagabond Comics is an all-ages, independently published comics anthology based out of Cleveland, Ohio. Vagabond was created in 2015 with the intention of providing a welcoming platform for comics creators of a variety of backgrounds and skill levels to share their work, and since then we have grown into lively community of contributors, collaborators, and supporters both locally and internationally.
Since Vagabond's inception, we have released 9 issues featuring over 40 artists and writers, with the number of contributors growing with each issue. With "Kindred", our 10th issue, we wanted to celebrate the sense of community and family that has come to define us. We asked contributors to reflect on what family means to them, and the result is 17 comics from both new and returning contributors spanning a diverse range of both styles and subject matter.
The contributors for this issue include: Kate Atherton, Duncan Barton, Sequoia Bostick, Brienne Boyles, Vanessa Cardinali, Julia Coffin, Allison Gajewski, Brian Gleine, Cassandra Harner, Clare Kolat, Thomas Masaveg, Kristin Ousley, Ashley Ribblett, Mike Rickaby, Alyssa Alarcon Santo, Rachel Smith, Dan Rafter, Lucy Rose Till-Campbell, David Waldman,

We typically fund everything out of our own pockets and with earnings from shows, but with the higher costs that come with color printing, we need your help. We are asking for $3,500, most of which will go directly towards printing the books, and the remainder being set aside to cover shipping, Kickstarter fees, and the creation of rewards.
All backers that pledge $5 or more will receive a PDF version of Kindred.
$12 will get you a physical copy of the book, along with the PDF version.
For $20 we have a merch package that includes a digital and physical copy of the book, along with an enamel pin, button pack, and a Trashcan Fire sticker. All backers who pledge $20 or more will also have their names featured in a thank-you section in the back of the book.
Exclusively for this campaign, we will be offering a variant cover version of Kindred featuring art by our pal and guest artist, Heather Mahler. There will be a limited number of these available in a $20 tier that also includes an enamel pin, button pack, and Trashcan Fire sticker.
We have two $30 options available, both including rewards specifically created for this campaign.
The first includes a screen-printed tote bag with art by longtime Vagabond contributor Clare Kolat, featuring characters from her comic "Let's Go!" created for Kindred.
The second includes an embroidered "Vagabuds" beanie, designed by Vagabond co-creator Amalia DeGirolamo.
For $80 you can get the Editors' Choice Package, which along with the book includes three of our favorite previous issues of Vagabond, everything included in the merch package, and a surprise merch item.
$100 gets you both physical and digital copies of a subscription to all books released in 2019, the vagabuds hat, the tote bag, the merch package, and a honorary Trashlord plaque.
Risks and challenges
All art and comics from contributors is created and in hand, meaning that content for the book is already guaranteed. And with nine previously published issues and one successful Kickstarter campaign under our belt, we've proven ourselves capable of following through with completing a project.
The production of the books and some of the merch is being carried out by local companies with whom we have already established relationships with, and much of the merch has already been produced.
If there is any risk that delivery of rewards will be delayed, clear communication with backers is a priority for us.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
