CRE Outreach recently acquired a space near downtown Culver City that we plan to transform into a gorgeous 50-seat theatre. Currently it’s just a shell, but with your support we can renovate the space and create new home to showcase the extraordinary individuals and communities we serve.
CRE Outreach is dedicated to providing life-changing experiences for youth, teens, and adults with disabilities, military veterans, and at-risk youth through the performing arts. Over the last 10 years, we have grown from a small, grassroots theatre company into a multi-discipline community service agency. One of our long-standing goals has been to secure a theatre space of our own to house rehearsals and performances for all of our programs (Theatre by the Blind, Rex & Friends, Creative Youth Theatre, Outreach Through The Arts, and Veterans Empowerment Theatre). Finally, after 10 years we are achieving that goal and will no longer have to rent expensive rehearsal and performance spaces.
Our hope is to complete the project over the next few months in order to move in to our new home by January 2018. Kickstarter funds will help us finalize renovations, transform the space into a state of the art theatre, and successfully launch our grand opening of the space in 2018 – just in time for our 10-year anniversary.
Our organization’s main goal is to use our new theatre space to increase accessibility to the arts for under-served and disabled populations with limited accessibility to the arts. With your support our new theatre space will open its doors to community members to view rehearsals and performances, learn more about how theatre can positively affect disadvantaged populations, and change public perception about the capabilities of people with disabilities.
MORE ABOUT CRE OUTREACH
CRE Outreach [501(c)(3)] provides participants with a constructive and creative forum to confront their challenges while informing the public and changing perceptions about their capabilities using creative expression to re-imagine the narratives of their own lives, while using performance techniques to promote social skills, independence and confidence that translates into increased quality of life.
Our programs feature the only blind theatre and blind dance companies in the U.S.A, military veterans sharing inspiring stories, and musicians who are blind or autistic leaving you speechless. CRE Outreach’s new theatre will provide opportunities for these remarkable individuals to perform, share their stories, and showcase their abilities with the Los Angeles community. This theatre is one of a kind and can only become a reality with your help.
Risks and challenges
No matter the space, every renovation can be risky and expensive. We are prepared to deal with these challenges thanks to our team of experienced professionals who have already donated in-kind services valued at over $100,000. These generous contributions will take care of the layout design, framing, plumbing, flooring and many other expensive elements.
Added challenges will be upkeep and maintenance of the space once it is finished. We have already identified several qualified candidates for the Theatre Manager position. We are confident that we will find and hire the right person to make sure that our new home always looks fabulous and will attract new audiences including Culver City theatregoers.
Lastly, we will face the challenge of filling seats and publicizing the theatre with our new PR Team that has already secured featured news stories on CBS, NBC, and KTLA as well as various online and print media sources.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
