This is my first solo album and I’m truly excited about having this music heard. My criterion for choosing songs for the album, which I achieved, was that each song (music and lyrics) was written 100% by me.
While I was recording one of the bass tracks my friend asked me why I hadn’t released a solo album before this. It actually stopped me in my tracks for a second while I thought about it. The answer? I’ve been so busy producing other acts and writing, recording, and producing with The Rods that I never felt that I needed a creative outlet for my songwriting before now…it just never occurred to me. I understand that Possessed is still opening their live shows with the intro that I wrote for their album, Beyond the Gates. I decided that this is the time to write for myself. I have songs on this album that may not have been the best fit for The Rods, but I want to share them, so a solo album is the way to do that. I guess the best I can say about this is... better late than never!
It’s a bit frightening to put yourself out there on your own with both your music and production. It’s a totally new experience for me and despite a bit of trepidation of being on my own, I’m looking forward to the feedback.
I have to thank John Hahn for handling the bulk of the guitar playing on the album. John was very respectful of my guitar parts but took them to a level I could never have achieved. I played drums on John’s first solo album (Out of the Shadows) and it was very kind of him to return the favor. Those of you who know John know what a shredding guitarist he is.
I’d like to acknowledge some special guests who’ve done a great job contributing their talent to my album.
- Mark Tornillo (TT Quick / Accept)
- Joe Comeau (Leige Lord/Overkill)
- David Porter (805)
- Erin Canedy

I also have to thank the amazing Eric Philippe for his inspired artwork and support. Eric is not only incredibly talented, but he has been a friend and supporter who believed in this project from the start.
As with all things in life, no one truly does it on their own. I have so many people to thank for helping me complete this project. That especially includes all of you who will graciously decide to contribute to the project and support my efforts here at Kickstarter. Please note — even though I hate reminding, highlighting or hyping anything — that Kickstarter is an all or nothing format. If I don’t raise my entire requested amount in the allotted 30 days, then I will receive zero. Even one penny less than my goal I will receive zero. A less than thrilling outcome. So please remember that every dollar counts here and best intentions for a future purchase may actually hurt my cause today.
By the way, for those who have seen that Executive Producer credit will be given for a $1,000 donation, and if you don’t know what that means, an Executive Producer is a person or persons contribute financially to the project.
I thank you in advance for helping me raise the funds to finish mixing my album. I also look forward to actually speaking to some of you directly in the near future and, of course, as always, please make sure you say hi and introduce yourself at any of The Rods gigs. It’s always nice to meet in person.
All the best,
Risks and challenges
An independent album is very expensive to produce. I've funded everything myself up to this point, but I need help with the final leg...for the art work and getting the actual CDs produced.
Having produced many albums from beginning to completion throughout my career, I'm aware of the pitfalls and have taken steps to avoid them. I'm not anticipating any major hang-ups to getting this album released...and your rewards on their way to you.
I've worked long and hard at this and I can see light at the end of the tunnel. I'm counting on you to help me make the last hurdle to releasing my first ever solo album and sharing my music. I promise that with this last bit of funding, CANEDY will be ready to rock!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
