EcoReco M3 e-Scooter is compact, lightweight, safe, and easy to use.
It provides a convenient and economic ride for you, and cleaner air for all.
"What seems different about this one [EcoReco M3] is the level of sophistication and performance it has. The fit and finish match the power and range in the best of ways." -Turbo Bob
"Yes, the M3 is fun to ride! You can carve it similar to a skateboard or snowboard and I think it does make you feel like a kid again. ;) ... Portability is one of the big advantages of the M3 and it can be a good solution for using multimodal transportation like a bus, train, subway, taxi, ferry, etc.... Simplicity and low maintenance is another big highlight of the M3 when compared to an electric bike. " - Pete's electric bike report
"It is an absolute no brainer!" - OxGadgets

We know you pledge to save energy and protect the environment whenever possible, but refuse to compromise on convenience
Unfortunately, there are obvious tradeoffs in current urban transport for short distances: It is time-consuming on foot, sweat-inducing by bike, frustrating by public transit, and environmentally and economically unsound by car (not to mention the traffic and parking trouble).
Therefore, you settle on one-way or the other.
We at EcoReco are driven to redefine short distance mobility for the better with this M3 electric scooter.
Imagine that: An eco-friendly ride that is convenient, economic, faster, and more enjoyable. Less waiting, and fewer detours to parking lots and gas pumps. Truly portable so you can always bring it along with you.
Whether you’re going the distance or just that extra mile, you can just hop on and zoom off. It’s perfect for coffee runs, quick visits to crowded downtown, stops or patrol among buildings at a large campus /warehouse/factory, or just exploring new places.
We are changing the game on vehicle design.
The development of the motorized scooter in the U.S. can be dated back to 1915 by Autoped Company of Long Island City during wartime and gasoline rationing. Over the past decades, even though technologies in materials and batteries have advanced significantly, manufacturers have yet provided a practical and affordable solution that can trigger wide adoption.
Similar to the way Apple reshaped the smartphone industry with iPhone in 2007, our team of environmentally conscious engineers and physicists started with the goal of providing the best user experience, and then integrated/ developed the best technologies into one complete package. The result is this state-of-the-art design, balancing the aesthetic, speed, range, portability, control, and cost.
Most importantly, as in all electric vehicles, price is one of the most critical barriers hindering the mass adoption. In contrast to some niche personal transportation options with similar (or mostly inferior) specs, such as Segway ($5000+) and Go-Ped ($2500+), we are aspired to achieve all of the above at an affordable retail price of $1199 for the mainstream.
It is a quantum leap ahead of any last mile solutions currently on the market.
Did you ever roll and glide yourself on a supermarket shopping cart when you were a kid (or just yesterday)? Then you already know how to ride an EcoReco scooter.
It is that simple.
There is a handlebar to hold on to for balancing and a brake at your grip, so you are always in control. Your feet are less than 6 inches off the ground, and there’s no metal bar between your legs to restrict your movement, so you can always brake and step off safely.
In addition, riding an EcoReco scooter requires less exertion than biking or walking, so you’ll always arrive looking fresh and alert. It is also the fastest way to move short distances so you can enjoy the breeze, the view, and the time you save.
We haven’t even talked about the attention you will get while riding this sleek machine and how awesome a conversation starter it is!
Here are some of feedback we got from early test riders:
"As someone who has been in the business for the last 25 years of selling and servicing scooters i must say the M3 scooter is the best product currently on the market. At 6'4" and 265lbs i was really suprized by its power and ride. in my opinion best scooter on the market currently offered."
-Sam Townsend, Owner of Myrons Extreme Machines
“Some of the things that we like a lot about this sleek scooter are the way they put together, strength, durability, weight… and in comparison to some other scooters on the market built overseas or here in the US, you can see clearly the construction is superior.”
-Donald Durbin Jr, Owner of Cambrian Go-Kart
in the warehouse likes it. You guys did a great job designing it. Congrats!”
-Gary M., President of San Jose Distribution Services
company campus has 4 buildings across several street blocks without connecting
shuttles. This scooter will make going to meetings much easier and faster. And I like that I can just put it in my cubicle.“
-Alma, G., Sr. Administrative Assistant
daily commutes, I walk 1 miles to the San Jose Caltrain station, take the train,
and walk again for another 4 blocks to my San Francisco office. This scooter is
perfect for me. And this scooter looks great and professional, too“
-J.M., SF bay area commuter
thanks for involving me. This is super fun and exciting to see a cool product
-H.H., Product Manager at Intel
“I am not
particularly good in sports or balance, but I like the fact that I can pick it
up in seconds and feel safe riding it. That’s pretty cool!”
-J. H., new user in a public test drive event
Starting out from a friendly joke of "steriodizing" a kid's scooter as a short-distance solution after getting stuck in a traffic jam and then unable to find parking for a local event few years back, the core EcoReco team loosely explored the right technologies over years and built the first working prototype in 2011.
Since then, we had spent another 2 years experimenting with different battery materials, motor sizes/types, folding designs, tooling and production methods for parts and frames. We also brought in focus groups from our target segments and involved many industry veterans to help us set the right specs and work out some kinks.
The final pre-production model in the video and pictures is fully functional and true to the specs. It has already gone through multiple riding/safety tests and been CE certified.
Help us finish the last mile, so we can deliver
it to the doorsteps of those who will make good use of it.
While we are close to entering production, your support will help fund:
Most importantly, we need your help to spread the word. We would like to bring this sleek machine to the mass market. If we can get more people to know and test the scooter during/after this Kickstarter project, we can continue to improve it based on all the valuable feedbacks.
Our e-scooters make getting from point A to B much easier and more fun. But don’t just take our word for it. Ride one!!
To increase our brand awareness, we’re offering significant incentives to early adopters. Take advantage of these special rewards on Kickstarter and get one for yourself or for your loved ones. The deal is even sweeter if you consider the saving on the sales tax and shipping. Don't let the opportunities pass you by. And we ship internationally.
We are also giving away one M3 e-Scooter by a random drawing among backers who share on Facebook/Twitter or leave a comment: just show your support, ask a question, say how you could utilize the scooter in your daily life, or anything. We would love to earn how you think about the scooter.
We truly appreciate you reading this far and your support. In return, we will make and deliver a good product that you would be proud of using.
Your backing will enable us to provide a sustainable alternative to the current energy-depleting, or time-consuming ways that unfortunately have become acceptable.
Please leave a comment.
Please let your friends ride your scooter once you get it.
Together, we can make this world a greener place one ride at a time.

====================== Update Dec 22, 2013 ==================== ===
M3 scooters have arrived in our warehouse and are ready to ship right after the project ends. Delivery would be ahead of schedule.
Technology and design projects on Kickstarter have a perception of being delay-prone. We wanted to avoid that and that's why we chose to come to Kickstarter at this rather late stage.
We have already sourced enough key components, found a manufacturing partner, and tried few small quantity test runs. Therefore, we are quite confident going into the product run and about delivery on time. We will finalize the packaging design by early November, start assembling soon after, and be ready for shipping right after the Kickstarter campaign ends. We will continue to update the progress of our production during and after the Kickstarter so our backers know exactly when their product would be delivered.
We will communicate with all our backers honestly and transparently if any issues rise, and we will work hard to sort things out on time.
UPS ground shipping is included in the pledge amount for the contiguous 48 states. For Alaska, Hawaii, and international backers, please expect to pay for the cost of shipping (minus a $30 domestic shipping credit). International backers will also be responsible for taxes, duties, and customs fees for their orders. We will do our best to assist our backers with this.
Our scooter can be charged conveniently using regular wall outlets via the included external charger. The charger is CE certified, and it can take 110-240V, just like most popular consumer electronics.
We work our best to make your life simpler.
Yes. If you live in the San Francisco Bay area, e-mail us to schedule a test drive event for your organization for a $50 fee. We’ll deduct the fee from a purchase made after the test drive.
We recommend up to 250 pounds for best performance even though the mechanics can support heavy riders. Please note the scooter’s top speed will decrease slightly for heavier riders on flat ground, but its performance would be noticeably affected on slopes.
State laws vary on this issue. Some state laws approve the use of electric scooters in bike lanes of general road traffic and some do not. To the best of our knowledge (we are still building it up so don’t hold it against us), e-scooters are street legal in California, Connecticut, Kentucky, Missouri, Nevada, Texas, Virginia and Washington, with many other states expected to follow suit. Some cities/counties have their own rules on light electric vehicles so it’s best to consult with your local transportation authority.
The scooter is water-resist. We put pretty good seals in the battery compartment and the controller/dashboard. If you get caught up by the rain on the way home, it will still work. With that being said, we still recommend to avoid riding in the rain for safety reasons, mainly due to poor vision and road conditions.
Always wipe out water afterward and keep it dry to preserve the product life. Electronics and batteries just don't like moist.
EcoReco is dedicated to providing high-quality products with superior customer support. Our tech support team is based in San Jose, California, and we will work with our growing dealership partners to help resolve any issues you encounter after you’ve purchased our e-scooter.
The statutory warranty on the frame and forks is 2 years for manufacturing defects and that on the battery pack is 6 months (which can be extended to 9 months if you register the product on our official website).
Lithium Ferro (Iron) Phosphate (LiFePO4) is known to have no charge “memory” effect. Typically, it can sustain more than 2000 charging cycles so it should be good for more than 10 years under normal usage.
If your battery decides to retire, we offer a free replacement within the warranty period or at a fair price when it’s out.
For a normal weight person, our scooter can take an uphill of 8-10 degree incline (~15% slop), which should be adequate for most streets/roads.
We have several test riders scooting around San Francisco. They are performing just fine except some notorious uphills. In those rare routes, a rider can either walk/kickscoot a bit or take a longer detour.
Yes, we are working hard to provide an array of accessories to complement the e-scooter. Please stay tuned.
Yes, our mission is to develop and source more products that make your life easier and help protect the environment at the same time. Join us!
