Jeff, the case was designed to fit either the GSM or CDMA iPhone 4. The 4S is just like the CDMA iPhone 4, so the case will fit just fine.
So since the GSM iPhone 4 is different from the iPhone 4S. Does this mean owners of GSM iPhone 4 get an additional case per request? See photo and link. http://www.cultofmac.com/122342/your-iphone-4-case-may-not-fit-your-iphone-4s/
Has anyone tested the lens with the new iPhone 4S?
So now that the iPhone 4S has been announced and has same form factor there will be no need for a new iPhone case and hopefully the lens will still work with it.
Wow that is amazing news! As for the negative and positive comments. That just comes with it. 360 grew from a bunch of guys to a full fledged company, that never goes without it's teething problems and as any parent knows, teething problems hurt for everyone involved ;)
But, what about the original, shipment, is the end of September and no shipment.
This plan is extremely fair, and should be taken the spirit it's offered, with a personal humility and generosity of spirit. I can't add much to the well-reasoned comments above that point out that Kickstarter is not a store - it's a funding platform. These are regular (if quite talented) people asking for our faith and help directly to make their visions come true, and we supported the idea along with taking the risks as investors. That means dealing with delays and the inevitable bumps as a vision goes from concept to product, with all of the unforeseen minutiae and delay. I applaud Mr. Rondinelli and the team for trying to ease the effects of the process through a creative approach like this plan. To me, this justifies my support of the project even more - not less.
What Mike Said + another 1. If I were on the staff at GoPano working my butt off developing the micro I'd certainly be more than a little pissed off at some of the comments I'm reading here, especially that sarcastic vitriol from Butow Maler a day ago. Just sit tight and chill out, you'll get your optics when they're ready and not before.
What Mike said +1
I do understand the disappointment some folks are feeling - I had hoped, based on the original timetable, to have the lens in time for the last ever shuttle launch since I had tickets to watch from the causeway. And now I have a 12-day cruise and would have loved to have the lens with me then as well. I don't think it was unreasonable to expect a company that already sold a similar products for SLRs would have a good idea of how long the entire process would take, but what can you say, hindsight is 20/20. One thing people seem to forget is that the whole premis of Kickstarter is to start new businesses/projects and ventures, and as a reward, you often get to be the first with a new item. The reward is great, but the principle is encouraging development and production, not mail order shopping. Kickstarter is not a store, it's an idea. Some projects succeed, some fail and a few take a wee bit longer to get everything right. And, frankly, it may turn out when all is said and done, that the camera and lens quality makes this only a novelty anyway. You pays your money and you takes your chances.
You're making iPhone 5 plans? This whole thing sounds more and more like a joke for me. Right now i'm only waiting for the next apology why you still can't ship. Someone's cat died? Perhaps you should better make plans for the iPhone 6? I know, Apple didn't said anything about it yet, but i'm sure they'll publish it in 2012. Maybe this is a realistic date to get the optics to your backers?
Hey guys :) Don't get too down about the new iPhone situation, even if people upgrade to the new phone they will still have the old 4 kicking around for use with your cool toy! :)
Sounds like a fair deal. It's unfortunate some commenters have no idea of the production process, especially when it comes to working with Chinese manufacturers. I worked for home decor company in product development. I'll never forget when our first samples of inflatable ghosts came back...all pink! This process takes time and we're all coming in at the very beginning. If you don't have patience and aren't interested in helping good ideas see the light of day, then kickstarting isn't for you.
Your inability to ship has soured the whole Kickstarter plan for me. Never again.
Thank you I was hoping when I upgraded it wouldn't be obsolete.
I think the offer is quite fair. But, did you consider the option of allowing us to defer receipt of the I4 version and apply some value to the I5 version?
If it is as simple as a new case then this would probably be unnecessary.
I look forward to getting mine for the Iphone 4. If it works as advertised then if I end up getting a 5 I will get new one for the 5
Awesome! Can't ask for any more than that.
Sweet deal!! All I can say is thanks!!
As a Backer, I knew the risks I was taking when I decided to support your idea. What you are doing is has never yet been done. Such exploration necessarily involves risk and inevitably unforeseen challenges. Such challenges can lead to delay. I knew this from the beginning, and in my opinion so should anyone who invested in your idea.
Your offer is extraordinarily fair, and I am grateful for your kindness. Keep up the terrific work!
Very happy just to get a standard unit for my Iphone 4... eagerly waiting!
