Brave changing currents, perilous hazards, and the threat of attack from other pirates to salvage treasure from the shipwreck!
Disaster struck a pirate ship laden with treasure. Wrecked on rocks in the middle of an archipelago of islands, the pirates scattered to nearby islands on makeshift rafts. With the pirates on each island rising against the other islands to claim the treasure, you can train further pirates from your island's indigenous population and build rafts to navigate to and from the shipwreck. When navigating, you will follow currents, anchor, or bribe your pirates to paddle harder and deviate from the direction of the current. You will contend with various hazards including whirlpools, sharks and storms, attack other players, stealing their treasure and try protecting your own treasure. The winner is the player to get the most treasure back to their island.
Pirate Shipwreck is a relatively light-hearted or family game for two, three, or four players. Regular gamers told us they enjoy playing the game as an opener to gaming evenings. Families also enjoy the game - adult players can scale the intensity of play to suit the age of children, whilst helping develop their spatial, communication and imagination skills.
Pirate Shipwreck has been developed over six years with hundreds of playtests and a limited self-assembled release at the UK Games Expo as 'Go With The Flow'. Pirate Shipwreck has a concise rules sheet, renewed artwork, and will be professionally manufactured in the EU and presented in a standard board game box.
Reward levels include one copy of the game for $59 Canadian Dollars (approximately $45 US Dollars, £37, or €42). All reward levels include FREE SHIPPING to the USA, CANADA and EU. Shipping to other countries is subsidized.
On your turn you have three options:
Navigating involves turning over tiles and following currents.
You can choose to follow the current, anchor and continue your next turn in the direction of the blue anchor icons; or bribe your pirate(s) to put in some extra effort and deviate from the current by following a gold arrow icon.
There are also sea hazards including whirlpools, still sea, sharks and storms.
When at sea you can attack other player's rafts using a simple but effective method of equal losses of pirates, allowing you to steal treasure and even take control of other player's rafts.
The rules will be provided in more detail with the game:
All the components are wooden except the tiles which will be on thick 1.5mm punchboard with a varnished linen print on both sides. All components and the box itself will be made to a high quality standard within the EU (Germany, Poland and Czech Republic). The components will be provided with poly bags and an insert within the box to keep everything organized.
Back this project with a reward of one, two, four, or eight copies of Pirate Shipwreck. As shown in the table below, one copy of Pirate Shipwreck is £59 Canadian Dollars - approximately $45 US Dollars, £37, or €42. This includes free shipping to all EU countries, the USA, and Canada. Shipping elsewhere is subsidized to the same extent with additional costs indicated by Kickstarter.
Funds will go towards the manufacture of the game, taxes, shipping and postage. The funding goal set reflects the fact that shipping is included for the USA, Canada, and EU, and is subsidized elsewhere. Costs associated with artwork, prototyping and development have already been paid for with personal funds.
Games for backers in the USA will be shipped from within the USA and likewise for Canada and the EU meaning you should not incur further taxes when backing this project from the USA, Canada and EU.
We have several exciting stretch goals lined up which will be revealed upon funding.
The following is the Kickstarter version of the rules - subject to minor alterations, they also include some strategy tips!
