At Write Right, the goal is not the mass production of grammar snobs. The goal is supporting writers and artists in the work they do. My desire is to provide them with a tool that will encourage them in that work and give them hope when they're lost and struggle to find their way.
The tool is a journal called Write Right's Emergency Hope Kit. It contains the prerequisite blank pages. It includes instructions like "Sometimes, you just need to take a nap" and "Write down your favorite recipe. Now make it and share it with someone else." It features custom artwork. Write Right, of course, but she's joined by paper airplanes and pudgy sparrows. The "kit" also is filled with a number of motivational quotes from people like E.B. White, C.S. Lewis, and Annie Dillard as well as some Bible verses, many that I've visited during my own times of discouragement and hopelessness.
The design phase is finished; now I'm onto the printing one, which is where supporters come in. With funding, I'll be able to print the journal and start to get it into the hands of writers and artists. I'll also be able to get an ISBN so that I can sell the journal on other channels such as Amazon and etsy.
Risks and challenges
Printing isn't an exact science, so there will be a delay, probably four to six weeks, once the journal is fully funded. If the delay is greater than that, I'll contact supporters and give them a new estimated time of delivery.
Another challenge may arise in the act of printing. While the journal fulfills design specifications, it could need some last-minute tweaks in order to print well. If that does occur and results in a delay, I'll again let supporters know.
A final item relates to the largest reward, the personalized chibi. They require some time to draw. That time shouldn't conflict with the four-to-six-week time period, but, if it does, I'll contact each person and apprise them of the situation.
If demand is greater than the projected Kickstarter, some delays in printing and/or shipping could arise. I will keep supporters informed if that happens to be the case.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
