Have you ever been studying your scriptures and had an insight and wished you had just a little more space to write in? Or heard something amazing in General Conference and wanted to put it RIGHT in your scriptures, but there was no room? Well now there is! There’s finally room for you to record thoughts and promptings, take notes, create art, anything you want...right there on the page! You don't have to resort to squishing some illegible shorthand into a teeny margin anymore. We've made the space, now it’s your turn to fill it.
We've taken the original text of the Book of Mormon and reformatted it to include three inch outside margins on each page, perfect for taking notes, recording promptings, writing journal entries, or even creating works of art. At 9.5” x 10.5, they are beautifully hardbound with a linen cover, ribbon bookmark, and gold foil stamping on the outside. The books will come in seven standard cover color options.
We had a few people try out our Journaling Edition of the Book of Mormon and asked them how they felt about the wider margins, and here’s what they said! Grab some tissues, it’s like fast and testimony meeting, except you get to eat breakfast.
We are launching this Kickstarter to fund our first order of the Journaling Edition of the Book of Mormon. The printer we’ve selected (as well as others we spoke to) require a 1000 book minimum order. That’s a lot of books! We’re going to use our Kickstarter funding to place an order with our printer, packaging for the books, Kickstarter fees, Utah sales tax, and have enough inventory available to sell the books directly from our website moving forward. Our overall goal is to become a self-sustaining business and to offer you more products that will enhance your scripture study for years to come.
We are Emily and Alexis, the blonde and the brunette, the Utah girl and the California babe! We first met in high school, where we bonded over our shared love of the musical theater, fake yoga, and all things Disney. We met both of our husbands in high school, each have 2 adorable kiddies, and currently serve in Primary in our respective wards.
Emily works as an account manager for a local Utah business and dabbles in calligraphy. She manages all of our social media, customer service, influencer outreach, and basically writes ALL THE WORDS for Line Upon Line.
Alexis runs her own videography business and captures the most important moments of people’s lives on film! She creates our content, whether that's graphics, photos or videos, and is also responsible for web design and supplier relations. We’re so excited to bring this product to you and build a community around our shared love of the Book of Mormon!
There really is no adequate way to describe how amazing it is to finally share this project with the rest of the world after quietly working on it over the last year. From obtaining permission from the LDS church, to late nights formatting one single chapter a time, to learning more about paper grades and book binding than you'd ever want to know, to finally holding our prototypes in our hands... this has been quite the journey for the two of us.
The response we've received so far has been supportive, enthusiastic, and incredibly humbling. Thank you so much, from the very bottom of our hearts, for being so excited about the books we've worked so hard to create. Our mission in all of this has always been to bring others closer to Christ through more meaningful scripture study. Because of you, we are closer now more than ever to achieving that goal. Thank you again and again!
The more people who know about our campaign, the more likely we are to make these books a reality! We would love to help as many people as we can find greater joy in studying the Book of Mormon, so consider this your “member missionary” moment and share about us on social media!
Risks and challenges
Lucky for you guys, we’ve done enough leg work to eliminate most of the risks. We’ve found the most high-quality, cost-effective printer, we’ve obtained permission from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to use the text of the Book of Mormon, and we’ve fully reformatted the text! Honestly, the biggest risk is not being fully funded, and not being able to order and send out books. But in all reality, that’s more of a risk for us than for you guys (although not getting books would be seriously sad...)!
Once we are fully funded, we will be submitting an order of at least 1000 books, and our printer will be printing, binding, and shipping those books to us. Our cover materials and paper are specially ordered, so it’s possible there could be a wait time for our printers to receive those materials.
We have done everything we can on our end to speed up the production process - our files have already been submitted and approved by our printer, so as soon as we place our order with them, printing should be able to start right away. As with any product, it is possible to run into delays in the production and shipping process - we ask for patience if something like that does occur, as those kinds of delays are completely out of our hands. After we receive the books from our printer, we will be shipping them out to you ASAP. We plan on total transparency in the ordering, production, and shipping process to keep all our contributors informed of the timeline and any potential delays.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
