If you hate kids and the idea of introducing them to one of the greatest sports in the world, then this project probably isn't for you. But if you DO like kids and want to encourage them to do something besides text and sleep, then read on.
Together, with the support of PEDRO'S, CYCLOCROSSWORLD.COM, LAZER SPORT, ZIPP SPEED WEAPONRY, MAD ALCHEMY EMBROCATION, CYCLINGDIRT.ORG and TIM JOHNSON, we will be crossing the vast sea known in some parts of the world as "Der Atlantische Ozean" to produce a top-notch cyclocross DVD that will be sold to support the funding of a new American Youth Development Cyclocross Program that is being spearheaded by PEDRO'S, TIM JOHNSON, and cycloWHAT?.
You just caught a glimpse of the rewards we're offering, didn't you? We know you, because you're like us, and like us, you like stuff. Sweet stuff. Lucky for you, Kickstarter knows this about you (and doesn't trust us) so they MADE us come up with amazing rewards. For you.
Take a few minutes to look a little more closely at those rewards our sponsors have generously given in support of this project. If they (and the KIDS) don't get you pumped to pledge some of your hard-earned dough to this project, then go right ahead and punch yourself in the face, you Spielverderber.
If you just punched yourself in the face, you deserved it. If you don't believe me, then read on to see why, beyond the outrageously generous rewards we're offering, this project is worthy of your support:
Chandler Delinks, a delusional, mediocre, rookie B-Class cyclocross racer documented the trials and tribulations of his first cyclocross season this year on his award winning BLOG (not so much award winning as much as just a BLOG), www.cycloWHAT.com. Fresh off a 52nd place finish at the 2010 US Masters Nationals, Delinks is going to raise the bar and document himself traveling 3,500 miles to get his Große Arsch kicked at the World Championships in Mol, Belgium.
After this, Chandler and his trusty cameraman/photographer/food aficionado/beer connoisseur, Todd Prekaski, will travel to Hoogerheide, Netherlands to find Chandler's friend and neighbor, 10 Year Pro and 6-Time US National Cyclocross Champion, Tim Johnson. They will capture the experience of being one of 30,000 crazed fans at a World Cup cyclocross event and follow Tim as he looks to use this race as a tune up for the following week's Professional World Championships in Sankt Wendel, Germany.
After the Hoogerheide race, Chandler and Todd will make their way to Sankt Wendel, Germany to connect with Johnson again and document his days leading to the Professional Cyclocross World Championships where he will look to improve on last year's 14th place finish.
When not covering the races, Chandler and Todd will be immersing themselves in the surrounding Belgian and German cultures, searching for things that might otherwise not be found. Todd will be comparing the local fare and ales in his featured segments, "Todd's Tisch." Do the Belgians really eat as much as the Germans and as well as the French? Only Todd's discerning palate can tell if there's any truth to that tale.
And we will be bringing you all of this, and more, in the DVD.
You might be saying to yourself, "This sounds so amazing, I don't want to wait 4-6 weeks for these guys to go through post-production for that freaking DVD. I want to be there with them! I want to see it now!"
Well good news, mein Kleiner, you WILL be there with us. Every. Day. We will be posting short videos, photos, and written accounts of our adventures, daily, on www.CYCLINGDIRT.org. If you're of the particularly impatient persuasion, fret not my kleines Kind. We'll be six hours in the FUTURE, so when you wake up every morning, we'll already have done a whole day's work and you'll get to see it first thing! Well, maybe by lunchtime you'll see it. Worst case, before you leave your desk for the day. You'll definitely see it on the same day.
After watching our superbly narrated short film, reading about our amazing ideas for this project, and drooling over the outstanding rewards being offered, your head is probably spinning with excitement. While our instincts tell us to suggest you punch yourself in the flipping face again, we won't. Instead, we suggest you take a few deep breaths and think about what this project is really about.
It's about cyclocross. It's about the DVD. It's about Chandler Delinks. It's about America. It's about Tim Johnson. It's about foreign foods. But it's really about the KIDS.
