Making some Demo Cartridges
I built a few cartridges of the demo yesterday. For anyone who would like to see what that looks like, I made a time-lapse video:
I made these for promotional purposes, so they are not indicative of what the finished cartridges will look like. The shells certainly won't be transparent red, and will have a proper label, much nicer than my black and white scissor-cut version. This is temporary label art, as well. The final design has not yet begun.
These cartridges were made from all new parts. Whatever wasn't standard electronics components was made by RetroUSB who deserve a lot of credit for supporting NES development. In particular, their PowerPak cartridge has been an essential tool for my own NES development.
I'd like to take a moment to highlight a few other recent NES releases I have played:
Action 53: Streemerz - A grappling game inspired by one of the games from the notorious Action 52 collection. This is also a multi-game cartridge containing several entries from the 2011 NESDev compo.
Battle Kid 2 - Battle Kid is a pair of action platformers, somewhat reminiscent of I Wanna Be The Guy, and known for their challenging difficulty.
Nomolos - A feline warrior fights his side-scrolling way to the Catsle to rescue his friend.
Larry and the Long Look for a Luscious Lover - A graphic adventure that might have no relation to a certain classic Sierra game.
- Armed for Battle - Real time medieval battle strategy.
2A03 Puritans - An album cartridge compilation of NES music.
Super Bat Puncher - A very well crafted platformer with a lot of charm. Currently unfinished, but a two level demo is available.
Alter Ego - A logic game about swapping positions with your alter ego. This one is a free download.
Thanks very much to all the backers supporting me. I'm looking forward to making this game for you!
