What is this film about anyway?
So, what happens when a man can't convince his wife to have sex with him? For three months? He goes on a strike and unwittingly the whole community becomes involved. "We Want Some" is a progressive, balanced, raunchy, sometimes foul-mouthed look at all the complexities of the sex debate.
Sometimes the only way a couple can communicate is by holding a picket sign with fellow like minded people and yelling at their spouses, boyfriends, etc. I'm Tamir Mostafa and I'm writing and directing this short film.
Relationships are all about communication and often we don't always know how best to do that. When effective communication breaks down between a couple people go to crazy lengths to get their point across. Even if they do so in profoundly absurd ways. I wanted to make a short film that deals with sex, or lack thereof, in a different way while also exploring what happens when everyone gets involved in your business. Things gets out of control, chaos ensues and with this bunch of actors very funny comedy ensues as well.
Who's in This Cast?
Lead a cast of over thirty amazing comedic actors and actresses.
You can see several of them in our awesome trailer!
Who's this Tamir guy?
Tamir Mostafa has written for theater, webisodes and short films that have all been produced. He's worked just about every job in the low/no budget world of independent film. He's landed finalist in a few Network sponsored writing contests as well as been a fellow in Film Independent's Project Involve program. A former teacher and professor he transitioned into television as an assistant and decided it was time to finally make another film. We Want Some is his first short in seven years.
Why Can You Make This Film?
Well, I have worked on this film for six months and have spent every waking hour of the last two months producing it alongside Germar Derron (producer of the pop culture news site Look to the Cookie).
We have the great Seth Wessel-Estes serving as our Director of Photography and a huge and diverse cast of comedic actors who are anxious to start filming.
Have you done this before?
Yes. Several times. Never on this level with this many people. The trailer that we shot was something I filmed with only a fraction of the cast. We've rehearsed this to ensure that everyone is prepared and that way we can make the most of our filming days.
So Where does Kickstarter come in?
Making a film with this many people is expensive! Our cast alone is 36 people and our small crew is comprised of 8 people. We're shooting on the Black Magic Cinema Camera which costs to rent for several filming days as well as a sound package in order that our audio is nice and crisp. Just to feed 40 people for several days is expensive. On top of that we need to rent a house for filming and that has to be insured.
Whenever you film anything there's extensive post-production costs that are factored in. Hi-Definition requires color grading in order to ensure the image looks as intended. All this ads up.
Your contributions will help make this film look the way it should so that we can deliver a great comedy!
