WOW! A Year Later!
I can't believe it has been a year since my Kickstarter campaign! A LOT has happened in the past year, and so much of it could not have been done without your support. I am still plugging along with the project, and have a target goal to finish photographing subjects by the end of this summer, in 2016. To date I have shot 59 people, including subjects in Vermont and Texas most recently.
This weekend, I am traveling to Des Moines, Iowa to photograph subjects as part of the 2016 Election coverage, which will be published in a major news media outlet. Are any of you in Iowa? Do you know anyone there? I am having some trouble finding people to participate and could use all the help I can get!
In other updates: the Debt Project was published in Marie Claire magazine Taiwan and Marie Claire China in November, as well as Internazionale paper in Italy just this month. In September, the work was a finalist for the Dorothea Lange photography prize by Duke University Center for Documentary Studies. Very exciting! Lastly, I've been working on a book proposal to have the work published as a photography book upon completion. I am seeking additional funding, as I have used all of the funds raised for travel and exhibition this past year. If anyone has any funding ideas, please let me know!
Other than that, my teaching assignments and freelance work are keeping me very busy just trying to make ends meet. The cost of living is going up in San Francisco, and I am looking for teaching opportunities elsewhere.
I haven't forgotten about Kickstarter rewards--they are being sent out in smaller batches, so if you haven't gotten yours, you will, I promise! If you are due a family portrait--please contact me by email at email@example.com to schedule this directly. I've shot a couple in the last month and it's been so great to meet all of you in person!
