You’ve heard the rumors! Now we’re here to confirm that yes, they are true. After years in the making, Vail’s premier distillery, the 10th Mountain Whiskey & Spirit Company will be opening soon!
We’ll be producing bourbon, whiskey, moonshine, vodka and a cordial. We’ll be an integrated part of the Vail valley, becoming a destination distillery, working with local establishments and keeping philanthropy at the forefront of our business, supporting the 10th Mountain Hut Association, the Vail Veterans Program and the Wounded Warrior Project.
The patriotic men of the 10th brought diversity, courage, and hope to the Rocky Mountains when they arrived in the 1940's to train just a few miles south of what is now Vail. They were part of the greatest generation of men, wanting to make each day count and each day better than the last. The mentality they had was strong after being shaped from the rigors of mountain warfare, their ego’s humble.
As the soldiers returned from war, souls touched by the mountains both near and far, many were driven to fulfill their entrepreneur spirit. They were inspired to start companies that influenced our enjoyment of the outdoors, to create ski resorts around the country (Vail included) and to develop ski schools and ski patrols. As they built these companies, they encouraged others to pursue their own passion for the mountain lifestyle.
The 10th Mountain Whiskey & Spirit Company is an extension of this mountain lifestyle, bringing together the old with the new. Generation after generation, men and women alike, all share this same passion, enjoying it for a day, a weekend, a lifetime, or somewhere in between. No matter how long it’s embraced, the combination of friends, mountains, memories and spirits, brings people together like no other.
To encourage these relationships, to embrace the mountain lifestyle and to honor the 10th Mountain soldiers who inspired our way of life, we’ve created a tribute distillery in Vail, Colorado. Not only is it a tribute to the 10th Mountain soldier, but it is also a tribute to those that enjoy the mountain lifestyle, living it fully, every day.
If you’re one these many people that lives this lifestyle alongside us, then we ask that you join our campaign to bring the 10th Mountain Whiskey & Spirit Company to life.
In order to get the 10th Mountain Whiskey & Spirit Company up and running, we knew we would have to beg, borrow and steal. Having done the second two by convincing a bank that this was a good idea and then raiding our savings, we are now turning to you, the people, who support not only the 10th Mountain Division but also enjoy the same mountain lifestyle we do.
With the capital raised through our Kickstarter campaign, we plan on:
- Paying for equipment
- Building out the distillery
- Purchasing ingredients
Not only does each dollar count but you get rewarded with one of a kind items and the feeling of knowing you’ve helped build a company aligned with your core values and lifestyle!
Our Kickstarter goal is to raise $25,000 initially. But we have to work within the peculiar rules of Kickstarter; if we don’t meet our goal then we don’t get any financing at all, no matter how much was raised. However, we can exceed our goal without getting penalized. Hence, we hope to greatly surpass the $25K.

Being a small company has many advantages, such as high quality control and flexibility. It also brings the challenges of limited resources. With your support we can start making locally crafted spirits as soon as possible.
We want you to know that we're committed to our community and are around to meet the people who drink our spirits. We want to be a distillery where people feel comfortable coming by to say hello and chat about our latest batch of whiskey.
Some view craft distilleries purely as a business opportunity. We believe instead that it offers the chance for us to honor our region's heritage and to toast the mountain lifestyle. We’ll produce the spirits from locally sourced products and keep the money in our communities, rather than sending it off to some faceless liquor conglomerate.
We're committed to working with local artisans.Local artists will design the labels; we’ll source ingredients from local farms and sell regionally crafted products in our tasting rooms.
We would love for you to be a part of this vision with us. Please join us on the journey of making the 10th Mountain Whiskey & Spirit Co. a reality.
