About this project
Our next goal, is to introduce new animation effects to our Augmented Reality feature. We are glad to announced that we have invited Jacky Tong, an illustrator of a local animation company to join us for the creation, producing eight new stories for our scene.
An art book to show utopia and dystopia are just two sides of the same paradoxical world.
“What would the world be like without humans?”
The project originates from the very thought that one day if human go extinct, it might even be a good thing to the planet.
The more developed our civilization is, the more havoc we wreak to the mother earth. Just as Chernobyl became hell to us, the no-man’s land flourishes and became a natural reserve.
In “Nowhere better, nowhere worse”, we are trying to illustrate this relative concept with large scale miniatures and dioramas. Heaven and hell are just two sides of the same paradoxical world.
The mother nature is a living organism, but unlike humans, it doesn't have the consciousness nor ability to create a true utopia. I hope the project can spread that idea that we can actually make a choice, the choice to make our world better.
A double-sided full-color concertina book. One side showing a developed dystopian world, the other side without humans but a blissful, flourished nature.

The diorama took more than a year to finish. Featuring almost a hundred weathered and hand-painted N-Scale (1:160) model houses and figures from Japan and Germany, all set in a 200 centimeter long architecture scene.
Shannnam is a design studio created by Riyo Chan in 2011. Shannnam have been incorporating miniature scenes as a medium into their accessories and art installations. Converting abstract ideas and stories into tangible experiences.
Shannnam’s designs are carried by Colette Paris, Harvey Nichols and various retailers around the world. And has also been exhibited in the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (USA), and Jaffa Museum (Tel Aviv Israel) .
If this campaign is successful, we will exhibit the original 200cm long diorama in Hong Kong. We hope to see you there!
