In this campaign we look to you to help us build upon the successful CardMogrifier and Poker blanks cards that we've already brought to market with the help of our backers. Because so many of you asked us, we're adding Tarot Size cards to the line.
• Tarot Cardmogrifier -- the Tarot-sized version of the original CardMogrifier allows you to print one card at a time.
• Tarot-Sized 4up Blanks -- allows you to print four Tarot-sized cards per sheet.
Now, you can create single or multiple cards whenever you want.
While many of you might be making your own Tarot decks (which is very cool), many gamers seek to design their own cards larger than Poker- or Bridge-size, either for an existing game or for your own game.
At 4d10 we want to give you the tools you need to make your own game stuff ON DEMAND, right in your own home!
The Tarot CardMogrifier
The Tarot CardMogrifier is a BPA-free, polyplastic carrier designed to hold a blank Tarot sized card and run it through your laser printer or ink jet printer. Use our online template or your own to insert text and graphics to create a custom card. Tape the blank card into the CardMogrifier, load it into your printer, hit print, and out comes your custom card.
What is the size of our Tarot cards? Well Tarot cards vary in size more than other type of card, but the most prevalent we found was the 2.75 x 4.75” (70 x 120mm) so that's what we're using.
The diecut opening is slightly larger by 1/32” or 0.8mm to allow cards to fit in the Cardmogrifier easily yet close fitting.
Will it work with both Laser and Inkjet printers? Yes it will, but we recommend Laser over Inkjet because Laser printers are more durable and are also designed to handle heavier stock than Inkjets.
4up Diecut Tarot Blanks
What If you could print out a deck of cards on your laser printer to enhance an existing boardgame? Imagine if you could prototype your own card game in minutes right from your laser printer? Or inexpensive and expendable reward cards? Or create cards for bachelor or bachelorette parties in the privacy of your own home?
With our CardMogrifier Tarot Size Blank Card sheets and custom computer templates, what you can imagine in a card, you can then create and print out on your own laser printer.
Each card has nice curved corners and smooth sides you expect in a card. Tiny 1/32" tabs hold the card in place so that the sheet travels safely through you Laser Printer. Once printed you can pop them out by hand, or if you're a bit of a perfectionist (as many Gamers are!) our instructions include a couple of alternate methods of removing the cards, eliminating any negligible tab remains.
We also created downloadable Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Card Maker templates that allow you to place your designs on the four faces. Currently our coder is also working on an online version -- a variant of the existing CardMogrifier online template on our website -- so you can print on the go.
NOTE: The Blank Card sheets are a slightly thinner index stock than your typical playing cards. We went as thick as typical home Laser Printer would allow, but not further!
And that's it: do-it-yourself cards for the creative gamer. Load your design, print, punch 'em out, and play!
Doubling our initial goal will allow us to have an artist create a card back specifically designed for use with Tarot decks. While everyone is already welcome to use the Pegasus card back we've already available on our website it is more in line with classical playing cards, this will one be a Tarot style card back.
Get us to 4k and each and every backer will be able to choose one of our existing four CardMogrifiers (Mini-Card, Bridge, Poker or Tarot size) to be included with their reward at no additional cost!
Risks and challenges
We've done the research, manufactured prototypes, and went through trial and error to assure that the pre-diecut sheets would travel safely through our laser printers. Of course we can't test them on every laser printer out there on the planet. Simply said we're confident it will work just fine in your printer.
Our downloadable templates are already tested and available at 4d10.com
We're using the same professional printing and die-cutting companies that produced the same poker sized products.
With both our first three successful Kickstarters we began shipping out the rewards 21 days after we received the funding from Kickstarter! Printing, diecutting, and shipping in less than a month! WHO DOES THAT? We do, because to us this isn't just a business, it's a commitment to our fellow gamers!
