The Coastal Table is a fresh, new kind of coastal magazine. Each issue will offer a collection of seasonally-inspired recipes, ideas for weekend projects and exploration as well as insightful narratives of amazing artisans from all over the world. Printed on high-quality environmentally-friendly matte paper, our aim is to build a community of like-minded people, to share and tell their stories, and to introduce our readers to the inspiring people and products who best represent the coast.
WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?
We wanted to create a magazine that we would want to curl up with and read. Our vision is simple: to tell stories about the people, products and places that resonate with the coastal lifestyle, from fishermen to hobbies to the best, most inspired destinations. We'll explore our favorite things and go deeper into why we love them.
Each seasonal issue allows us to showcase our writers and photographers in a highly creative way with thoughtful narratives, beautiful photography and updated, inventive recipes. We believe that our vision, along with our collective years of publishing experience will help the magazine become the beautiful, collectible magazine that you can't wait to read. The magazine has a clean, fresh design filled with stunning content that isn’t cluttered with ads. Instead, they will be from people and businesses who share our same values and beliefs, and who are as passionate about what they do as we are.
We are also proud to help support our coastal communities around the country and one percent of the sale of each print issue will be donated to a coastal cause of our choosing, changing with each seasonal edition. It's a small way we can give back.
WHERE YOUR CONTRIBUTION WILL GO
The magazine business is a tough and expensive one. This magazine is a labor of love for us, but we need some help to get it going. So far, this project has been funded exclusively by us. There was no start-up money from investors or loans from a bank. We used our savings to get this far, but we need your help to print the first issues of the magazine. The money we raise from this campaign will go directly to our printing, distribution and shipping costs. If we surpass our goal, we will use that money to compensate our staff for the long hours and hard work that they have so generously donated to get this magazine off the ground.
The Coastal Table Magazine will launch with the spring 2015 issue, available in both print and digital (our digital version also contains bonus content).
- Our first print run will be 1,000 copies (and we'll print additional copies if the demand exists).
- We are looking to raise $10,000, which will cover the printing, distribution and shipping costs of our first issue.
It’s what we need to produce and distribute a high-quality, collectible print magazine full of trusted recipes, beautiful photographs, and inspired stories. Our goal is to put together the most beautiful product we can in the most sustainable way possible. But that comes at a cost.
And if we don't reach (or surpass) our goal, we don't receive anything from this campaign.

Risks and challenges
