Hey Temple lovers, burners, and friends everywhere!
After nearly 10 weeks of build, the Temple of Transition is now extremely close to reality, thanks to the support of huge numbers of the Burning Man Community.
Here at Hobson Square on 4th Street in Reno, our yard is now full of 248 massive pre-fabricated panels that will be lifted into position on-playa to create this years Temple. With this structural work now behind us, we are currently splitting into a number of teams working feverishly in parallel to create the decorative components of the Temple: chandeliers, stained glass windows, shrines, surface detailing, CNC work, seating, altars and more. Simultaneously, teams are working on power, lighting, sound, burn planning, logistics, engineering, and all the many other back end elements that ensure both a successful build, but more importantly, a beautiful, safe, and sacred Temple for our whole Community.
By pre-building over 80% of the Temple prior to the event, we are able to create a truly awe-inspiring structure to hold and honor the intentions, messages and love of everyone who visits over the course of Burning Man 2011. However, it also creates some enormous logistical challenges that we need your help to resolve! We will be sending 24 semi-trailer loads of components to the playa, and once there, we need a very large 200 ton crane to lift some of our biggest components into position.
It is to fund these two huge operations that we now present our final online campaign, and we hope that you choose to support us. The Temple is nearly complete, and will be ready for transport on August the 11th: please help us get the trucks and crane we need to move and assemble this incredible Temple that our whole Community can use, enjoy, and wonder at in the dust of Black Rock City 2011.
Your Temple Crew loves you, and we won't stop working 'til the Burn..
