The 24-Hour Battery

We designed the Boost to know when your computer is plugged in to a traditional wall charger and when it isn't. So, the Boost will draw power to replenish itself when your computer is connected to an outlet and will charge your computer when it's not.
With 4mm thin batteries, the Boost is not just a battery expansion tool; it's a statement. Sitting tightly to your MacBook unobtrusively, the Boost and it's design allows you to retain your battery power easily, stylishly and subtly adding 5.5mm to the profile of your computer.
The Boost has the ability to keep you going throughout your entire day and beyond. You'll no longer need to carry around a charger or be tied to your desk to use your computer. You'll be able to play games on the bus, write in your favorite coffee shop, watch movies in your bed, have meetings in the park and still get back home before your computer drops below 80% battery.
Seamless Lifestyle Integration
As with all MagC products, it's essential that the Boost complements you! Plug your computer in to automatically charge your Boost and the computer in tandem. When you unplug your computer the Boost provides the power you need for the day!
The Boost is designed so that you won't need to be near a power outlet to use your computer all day. For the first time ever, you'll truly be free during the day and charging will become a purely nocturnal task. When you rest and recharge, so will your computer.
The Boost not only expands your MacBook's functional battery to 2.7x it's previous size, it is also a fully functional MacBook case, keeping your MacBook free of dings, dents scratches and helping protect your machine from daily wear and tear!
At a razor-thin 0.55 cm in thickness, the MagC clips onto your MacBook conforming to its shape and contours. The thickness of the laptop is increased by just over half a centimeter from the original 1.49 cm of the 13" MacBook Pro and the 1.55 cm of the 15" MacBook Pro. One USB Type-C port is used by the MagC Boost through a near flush mount, semi-permant connector.
The MagC Boost contains up to six 6000mAh, 3.7v Lithium Polymer Rechargeable cells providing 133.2-watt-hour capacity for the 15" MacBook Pro, and 88.8-watt-hour capacity to the 13" MacBook Pro. (The smaller 13" MacBook Pro contains four cells). Apple advertises that the 15" MacBookPro operates at 7.6 Watts when surfing the web or playing back movies while the 13" MacBookPro operates at 4.9 Watts.
The MagC Boost provides access to 15.5 watts of continuous power to your MacBook Pro through its USB-C charging port. When additional power is needed, the Computer's built-in battery steps in to supply the difference automatically. The MagC Boost communicates with your MacBook's hardware via the USB Type C Power Delivery Protocol, leaving you with a seamless experience.
Each MagC Boost maintains a built-in microcontroller to control when the Boost should act as a Power Sink or a Power Source. (If it should charge itself or charge your computer) Through this proprietary logic, the MagC Boost will automatically provide power to your MacBook when needed (15.5 watts) or automatically draw power from your MacBook (14.5 watts) to charge back up when your computer is plugged into the wall. You will never have to worry about power, we take care of that.
The MagC Team is based in the Harvard Launch Lab Incubator and is filled with veterans of the consumer electronics world specializing in the improvement of MacBook computing. Our previous major success is TarDisk, through which we've helped hundreds of people worldwide save hundreds of terabytes of memories.
Pierce, CEO of MagC (MagCEO, if you would) - Pierce is the head honcho to end all head honchos and an alumnus of the Bio-engineering world. Pierce’s drive brought him to the Harvard Business School where he established himself while working towards making MacBook Computing the best it can be.
Josue - Man with the plan, Josue keeps the TarDisk machine running like a finely tuned swiss watch. He's often followed by his pride of lions due to his luxurious mane.
Nick - Engineer Extraordinaire. Someday Nick will be the overlord minding the virtual realities we all live in. But for now, as he hones his craft, he has been the lead engineer in developing MagC projects.
Tristan - He’s the guy that thinks about you. Making sure you see the product accurately and in all of it's splendor. He also produces a cappella in his free time.
Murilo - The Jack of Internet Trades. He can do it all, whatever 'it' is. (We are too afraid to ask)
Luiz - Product Success, He prefers to be called Lou, by his closest friends. He is the front line in anticipating and solving any and all problems both before they arise and after.
Risks and challenges
There are always significant challenges in manufacturing and delivering any hardware product at scale. Mass manufacturing isn't the same as prototype development; besides making the Boost work, we have to make sure they are secure and reliable, and that they can be manufactured efficiently at larger volumes.
Of course, there are still risks associated with producing the Boost. Unexpected changes in component lead times, availability, and cost are examples of factors outside our direct control that could affect our delivery timeline, but we are working hard to mitigate those risks and plan to be transparent throughout the delivery process.
The other risk with this and any other project that involves physical delivery comes with shipping. There are a number of unforeseen circumstances that can cause problems during the actual physical shipping of the Boost, especially internationally, because it contains a large battery. From talking with experts, we believe that any battery under 160wH should not be problematic, however various countries impose different regulations. We plan to work with proven companies to help ensure that our cases and other rewards arrive (in perfect condition) at their delivery destination. Since unforeseen circumstances can sometimes impact the shipping world, we will also make sure to have methods/resources in place to overcome any difficulties
