We're super excited to be heading your way.
We've had a blast the past three years in Columbus, Ohio, and a large part of that is due to the support we received from day one from our community and guests. Our Short North location opened on January 4th, 2014 during one of the worst winters in recent memories. We learned that spraying Windex on glass doors is a no-no in such temps, that board games are the best remedy for blustery, dreary days, and that running a Kickstarter campaign in such conditions can warm the soul.
You would think we might come to dread the Midwest, winter launch, but in fact, we couldn't be more excited to be joining the Mass Ave neighborhood of Indianapolis with the perfect antidote to cold nights: a board game parlour. We believe this now more than ever: board games bring people together.
This is a simple Kickstarter campaign, hence a simple ask, with a simple goal: to build community support for Kingmakers in Indianapolis. We're not asking you to back a new idea, or a prototype, or something we feel will be really awesome - we know this is good stuff! We have learned and continue to learn so much from our Columbus experience.
One of the biggest things we have learned is the importance of a curated Library - it is the core of the Kingmakers experience. Our Library is a work in progress; it's ever-evolving with feedback from our Board Game Sommeliers, our guests, and the fast growing and dynamic board game industry. We strive for quality over quantity and aim for a Library of 500 or so really fantastic, fun games.
We are asking for $1,500 to round out our Library in Indianapolis. We are offering a couple of the same rewards we did with our Columbus Kickstarter campaign because for us, they have been a reminder of the folks who believed in us from the beginning, laying the foundation for a second location three winters later.
Thank you for your support! We look forward to meeting you!

Risks and challenges
We consider the risks of backing this project to be far less than those associated with backing our original Kickstarter because we have learned so much in three years! The ask on this project is also much less.
This Kickstarter is specifically aimed at getting a solid list of games in our Library and gaining community support for a new location.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
