Spectrum is the story of a young girl trying to cope with the loss of her mother by exploring her own emotions through bursts of color.
We started the short film Spectrum as a senior thesis film for the Savannah College of Art and Design, using all we had learned in directing, cinematography, producing, and production design to demonstrate our skills. Costs for student films are steadily rising, and as a result we need to look towards fundraising sites like Kickstarter to make ends meet. We already have one-third of the film shot, edited, and composed, so there's no empty promises, the film you're contributing to is available in trailers for your viewing pleasure.
The funds you contribute will assist our production in the following:
- Food and travel costs for the cast and crew (around 30 people, and the most important)
- Production design and props
- Motion picture film costs and processing
- Location rental costs
- Film and lighting equipment rental costs
- Truck and Car rental/gas costs
- Expendables such as tape, gel filters, bulbs, c-47s, etc
Movies aren't the brainchild of just one person, and our entire production team is happy to have your support, any that you can give!
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Every project has hitches and problems, and with "Spectrum" it's no different.
There are problems that can crop-up with locations, such as scheduling and weather conditions. Those problems can be accounted for by preparing accordingly with secondary locations and waterproof gear. With cast and crew availability, confirming schedules is the very best we can do, and if our supplies are running low, there's always some creative individuals on set who can make due with some strange materials. We've even had a few "robots" crafted out of grip equipment.
All tasks must be handled with promptness and effectiveness, any amount of time wasted is time that cannot be returned. The production team is aware of this, and always plans for secondary options, be it in preproduction weeks before shooting or the day of, there's always thought of playing it safe, especially if we are upholding the backing of our financial supporters.
We will tackle obstacles with promptness and level-headedness. There is no problem, no scheduling conflict, no shot design that cannot be tweaked and adjusted.
