Development Update #13
This last month was somewhat disappointing for me in terms of development--I spent a good chunk of it working on two of the more challenging animations I have planned for a couple of the companion's plotlines, and unfortunately, I'm having to do a lot of quick learning on the fly and making the sort of mistakes you make when you're a beginner with these programs (currently 3ds max and realflow), so I ended up not making much progress in that area.
Really personally disappointing, cause I was hoping to show off some sneak peaks to yall this month. Then, a couple weeks in to my schedule my 5 year old tablet died, which forced me off of some of the drawing work I had planned for the month. So, that was a bummer. But despite all that, I've still got things to share with you all, and I'm not letting the disappointment dampen my enthusiasm.
I've had a lot of fun working on more cityscape type backgrounds now that I've finalized the architectural styles the different settings of the game are going to have.
And I'm still tinkering with using settings during different times of day, where you'll be able to run into different people and have different interactions.
Speaking of different people, after I fixed my tablet situation, I finalized a few more designs of secondary characters you'll be meeting in the game. So here's a couple of em!
And as it's not a story spoiler, I'm including a little description introducing the last character of the three I'm sharing today--Afrin
Afrin is the older sibling of another character I've shared in a previous update. In the tradition of the kingdom of Karnata, the first born child of the royal family is raised as the royal protector for the next sibling born who someday inherits the throne, the belief being that only the monarch's own flesh and blood would never hesitate to sacrifice themselves in order to protect the ruler of the kingdom. Afrin is non-binary, and uses they/them pronouns.
Last, as usual, a couple work in progress snippets of music I worked on in the last month.
For next month, I'm putting the animations on hold for working on finalizing more secondary character designs as well as devoting more time to working on backgrounds. There's... so many backgrounds, haha.
