Format is a pilot for a web series taking place in the near future of 2038, we follow Chris Stevens an intern at the company "MemTech" which makes devices that enhance human memory, allowing recall to be perfect.
However Chris mysteriously breaks his chip losing the memory of the event, but also his ability to work his high demanding job. With help from his best friend and fellow intern Travis, Chris works to regain his old life style, while Travis seems to have other plans...
Format is using a fair amount of new emerging technologies in film and digital media production, we are using ariel drones for crane shots, shooting 4K at 30 frames on a RED Scarlet, and building a virtual camera system for make a 3D environment for the last scene that takes place in a large data center.
Risks and challenges
Format is heavy on VFX, while Kyle comes from a post background, no task is easy.
We will be using what may seem experimental for most student films of this caliber. We will be setting up a green screen room for the sound stage with "dummy" data racks for our fake data center that does not exist (unless Apple or Google would let us into theirs).
We will be using drones for both ariel shots and as props for the pilot, as well as extensive VFX from screen tracking to enhancing of the frame.
We will have limited time (4 days) to shoot this 15 minute piece in the middle of winter and with any luck finish our extensive post work within 4 months for delivery.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
