Everyone, we did it!!! Omens is funded! Below are our stretch goals!
A Comic/Illustrated Novel
Ember's mother died in a mysterious fire or so she thought. When Ember gets wind of her mother's survival ten years later, she treks on an expedition to find her. And when she does, her mother expresses her gratitude by murdering her own daughter.
When Ember dies, her soul is weighed. She is equal parts good and equal parts evil. She is an anomaly that belongs in neither Heaven nor Hell. Like all anomalies, there is a place for them—away from the confines of Hell and away from the joys of Heaven. That is a place where Omens dwell.
Omens are the collectors of evil souls and gain their power by fusing with animal deities. Ember is now one of them.
However, there's more to this supernatural world than Ember can ever imagine, and she is desperate to escape her new "life." She yearns to solve the mystery of why her mother murdered her. But little does she know, the reason is far worse than she fears.
This will be the first chapter of her story.
RATED R for intense violence and gore and suggestive themes.
The story is violent—the first issue/chapter being the worse—but not in a gratuitous way. There's a reason for it, and it will be revealed later on in the story.
Hi there! I'm Amy! Meet my project, Omens. Omens, meet this lovely person here on Kickstarter. Let's do this introduction speed dating style!
Omens has been a passion project of mine that's been on the back burner for far too long. Finally, I'll be able to work on Omens this year and officially launch this horror webcomic/illustrated novel.
Comic/illustrated novel? What's that? Well, if there aren't enough images for the first issue, I'll write out the action or dialogue for that missing illustration. Just like a storybook but darker.
With your help, we can make this one of the scariest webcomics you'll ever read.
SCREENSHOTS OF THE WEBSITE
As you can tell, it's not nearly complete. You can visit it at www.omenscomic.com to see if it's to your liking so far. But don't get too attached! Changes are on the horizon...
If we succeed, the comic will be free to read on the website on April 2016, but with certain backer access, you'll be able to read it two months early and get PDF copies and other cool rewards.
What's so great about Omens?
- Beautiful color art.
- Intriguing story.
- A blend of both western and eastern style of comic art.
- Diverse characters.
- Users can interact with some panels on the webcomic version.
- Sound and music on the webcomic version.
- Images that will make your pulse race.
SO WHY KICKSTARTER?
Since the artist is Amone, my sister, I can hold her favorite stuffed animal, Moosey, hostage and force her to illustrate for me for free, but I want to be a decent human being and pay her for her hard work.
I want each panel to be reminiscent of a movie still. For what I envision, she would typically charge $350-$400 for a full color, quality painted illustration because she's so busy with school and work. But I get the annoying sister discount so she'll digitally paint 15 illustrations for $500. The additional $50 is for fees.
So basically, ALL funds raised will go to Amone, the artist. That's why most of the rewards are digital.

EARLY CHARACTER DESIGNS
Music for the website and merchandise cost like posters will come out of my pocket. The domain name and hosting are paid for. The website is live, and we just need your help for the big push. Yeah! Push! Just like giving birth to a baby! I wouldn't know though...but I applaud mothers everywhere!
Okay, back to the point. Most tiers stack, please see the rewards chart for reference. For example, if you get tier 3, you'll receive tier 2 and tier 1.
The PDF will contain at least 40 pages altogether, and it will include bonus art and notes from the artist and writer.
This is the poster reward I commissioned Amone to do:

Risks and challenges
Hmmm hmmm hmmm...risks... Risk is a fun game, but I don't think this is what Kickstarter means by "risks."
Our goal is to have the rewards sent out to you by February 2016. Why February? It's my birthday! Okay, not just because it's my birthday, but we want Omens to look extra, extra nice! Each panel should pop!
If there are any delays at all, I'll be sure to let you know. I've backed projects before, and I understand the frustration stemming from silence. I want to make this project as transparent as possible but not bother you too much with all my updates.
If (or when?) our Kickstarter succeeds, I'll at least update you once a month. But if you want more updates, let me know and I'll make that happen. :)Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
