Who is Lost Shoe Brews?
We are a husband and wife team who grew up and reside in Marlborough and we are passionate about coffee and beer. Prior to this venture our head brewer, JP, was a marketing professional at a high tech company and avid homebrewer. He graduated in 2017 from the American Brewers Guild Intensive Brewing Science and Engineering program. Melynda, our coffee roaster and business connoisseur, is an MBA graduate from the Isenberg School of Management and an accounting professional for a large retail company. She has completed both the Coffee Lab International School of Coffee's Roasting program and Barista class.
So what have we been doing the past 11 months since we announced we would be opening in Marlborough?
We raised almost $700K to renovate 4,600 SF of our space in the downtown Marlborough Village.
We invested in significant capital assets including our 7 barrel electric brewhouse, six fermenters, a 12 Kilo coffee roaster, and an energy efficient ecofilter for our roaster.
We spent months perfecting the design and layout of our space with architects skilled in brewery design.
With our families we demoed 90% of the existing interior space to prepare it for its future as a brewery and taproom and completed a 300 SF brick wall (we mean, it's original to the building ;-)
We've thought of the details and included charging stations along our bar, a beautiful glass window wall with views of our production space from the taproom, and a layout that combines both traditional brewery seating with comfortable couches and coffee tables. Did we mention we have a fireplace?
We immersed ourselves in the history of the city we live and grew up in and highlighted the historical relevance of our city's shoe manufacturing days throughout the space.
We considered our starting lineup to include a variety of styles including a German Kolsch-style, a New England IPA, and of course a Coffee Stout. We also rethought and simplified the way we offer coffee and are doing away with the fancy Italian names. You want an espresso with steamed milk? You got it! An approachable menu is our goal!
Here's what we really want to know, when are you going to be open?
This is the golden question as the environment of a brewery build out is always changing. But pending any unexpected setbacks we plan to be open before the end of the year!
How can I help?!
We couldn't have done any of this without the support of our community! The energy and excitement we have received keeps us pushing to the finish line and we want to thank you in advance for helping bring this energy to downtown Marlborough! Through this campaign we will be one step closer to purchasing a canning line which will allow us the flexibility to provide you with a wider variety of products to take home!
Risks and challenges
We anticipate fulfilling tangible rewards in January. This may be delayed due to any unexpected setbacks in the next few weeks. We will communicate any changes as soon as we are aware.
*Our intangible rewards make great holiday gifts! We will provide you with a printable card to place in your recipients gift by 12/21!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
