My gritty, hard-boiled, action-packed cyberpunk novel, Dead Dwarves Don't Dance, featured the awesome cover art you see here:
The goal of this project is to get funding to pay for the same great artist, Igor Kieryluk, to create a new cover for the sequel, which will be published later this year.
I'm a part-time, self-publishing author with ten books published. One thing about self-publishing is that I don't have a big publisher paying for cover art or editing or marketing. So, I thought I would give my fans a chance to help me get another great cover for the sequel to my cyberpunk novel. In return, you can get a print or poster of the artwork (plus other stuff).
I'm not using this Kickstarter project as a pre-order system for the sequel. If you just want to read the book when it comes out, the ebook will be available for $3.99 on Amazon and Barnes & Noble later this year (probably $10-$15 in paperback). Instead, I'm using this project to raise funds and give fans a chance to get a cool poster of the cover of the first book. If you want to read the first book, you can buy it on Amazon here or Barnes and Noble here.
$1,350 is enough to commission a new cover and send out the posters. Anything above the stretch goals helps me pay for editing.
So, if you like this poster or just want more cyberpunk novels out there, please make a pledge.
You can also help by spreading the word. Post on a forum, Tweet, email, Facebook, blog. Any way you can get the word out is a great help.
If you make a pledge for this project, you'll earn the following rewards. Each reward includes the previous rewards.
For $1, you get a desktop wallpaper from the cover of the first book. Actually, you don't have to bid anything. This is a freebie, but if you like I'd sure appreciate a pledge. You can get it by clicking here.
For $5, you get the previous reward and I'll thank you in the Acknowledgments section at the back of the sequel.
For $10 you get all previous rewards plus a signed 8.5" x 11" print of the cover of the first book. If the stretch goal of $1,500 is met, the size of the print increases to 11" x 17".
For $25, you get all previous rewards plus a signed 19"x27" poster of the cover of the first book. If the stretch goal of $2,000 is achieved, the poster size increases to 24"x38"!
For $30, you get all previous rewards plus an ebook version of the sequel from Amazon or Barnes and Noble for your Kindle or Nook.
For $50, you get all previous rewards plus a signed paperback version of the sequel.
For $100, you get all previous rewards plus I'll thank you on the Dedication page at the front of the sequel.
For $200, you can be immortalized in the sequel. I'll use your name as the name of one of the characters. I guarantee you'll be mentioned at least once, but the life expectancy of your character might not be very long. I might use your name as the character's real name, vat name, or alias. You also get all previous rewards.
Here's a list of the characters I might use your name for. This list is subject to change, and I choose which one uses your name. Some of these characters are criminal scumbags.
A genetically engineered soldier (male)
A genetically engineered pleaser (female)
A prison kingpin (male)
The kingpin's toady (male or female)
Four of the kingpin's enforcers (male or female)
One prison guard (male or female)
Two technicians (male or female)
One convict (male or female)
A prison warden (female)
A psyker (male or female)
$1,500 - If the total pledges exceed this amount, the $10 reward print size is increased to 11"x17".
$2,000 - If the total pledges exceed this amount, the $25 reward poster size increases to 24"x38".
Anything above $2,000 will go to pay for editing and marketing.
ABOUT THE SEQUEL
I'm currently writing the sequel. I'll announce the title and plot closer to the publication date.
The sequel will hopefully be available by December (as long as I can eke out enough time outside my day job to write). You'll be able to get it in ebook and paperback.
ABOUT THE FIRST BOOK DEAD DWARVES DON'T DANCE
Noose, a genetically engineered dwarf mercenary, barely survives a terrorist attack on a neohuman dance club. Injured and alone, he embarks on a brutal quest for vengeance into the squalid underbelly of the Regional Atlanta Metroplex, through the desert wasteland of the not-so-pristine wilderness, and to the peerless towers of elite society.
The year is 2134. The nations of previous centuries are gone, consumed by the United Globe government. Citizens are confined to vast metroplexes while the rest of Earth is restored to wilderness. Neohumans are grown in vats, each type genetically engineered to serve humanity – flawless pleasers for gratification and ecstasy, hulking goons for war and violence, accidental psykers wreaking havoc, and more of any shape and size imaginable.
An action-packed, hard-boiled science fiction novel of redemption and revenge.

What if I just want the ebook or paperback?
The sequel will be available in ebook format for $3.99 later this year. It will be available in paperback for between $10 and $15. If you just want the book, the cheapest way to get it is to wait for it to be published and buy it on Amazon or Barnes and Noble. I'm not using this Kickstarter project as a pre-sale system. But, if you'd like a cool poster, you can get one here and nowhere else.
What about shipping costs?
Shipping is free to the United States. International shipping will probably be an extra $20. I'll finalize that soon.
Are those really the print/posters I'll be getting?
The print and posters in the video are pre-production mockups meant to give you an idea of what you'll be getting. The final prints/posters may look a little different as far as text position and cropping.
How can I help other than pledging?
You can also help out by buying my books and then Tweet about them, and mention them on Facebook, and leave good reviews on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
In the growing new world of self-publishing, fan support will be crucial. If you like any author, not just me, do your best to promote them by 21st-century word-of-mouth: Twitter, Facebook, online reviews, etc.
