We hit our goal and it couldn't have happened without you! Thank you so much. We are in full gear to get this project done and in your hands so stay tuned!
A comic book by James Smith and Brandon Lee Kitajchuk. Tabi No Hana is nearly complete. With your support we'll be done in no time! You'll receive updates here as new pages are finished and you can also catch live streams by @kitajchuk on Twitch.
Tabi No Hana is a unique story about four family members in a swamp based steam punk environment trying to survive a time travel accident. The father Kaiashi, once a military man, discovers time travel. Kaiashi then moves his family to an outskirt farming village to avoid having his experiments stolen by the government. Living in Hiyokuna Shitchi he continues to carry out his endeavors. One day by complete accident, Kaiashi triggers the time travel device sending him and his wife Todaia into the future. Kaiashi and Todaia’s two children, Oku and Utsu are left alone to fend for themselves. Tabi is about the Numa family struggling to get back to each other with little care or understanding of how every action they make creates chaos in its wake. Careful Numa family, there is a dark presence lurking over you.
The Future of Tabi
With your help we will release the first combined story that you see here, but we plan to take a different approach to the following releases after the first edition. We'll release two comic books, side by side, after this initial release. One comic will follow the story of the parents, and the other will follow the story of the children. That's right — we will be releasing two completely separate stories for Kaiashi & Todaia and Oku & Utsu. This is an ongoing experience and we have so many more Tabi stories we want to share with you!
The Art of Tabi
The Numa Family
The father, Kaiashi is smart and sensitive. He loves his whole family wholeheartedly and bares a strong weight on his shoulders.
Todaia is a strong-willed woman with a great sense of humor. Though strong she can be extremely stubborn.
Utsu is a typical teenager — eager, strong, confident, but is easily caught off guard by her emotions. She loves to hunt alone.
Oku is a shy and sweet boy who carries his favorite stuffed teddy bear, Button, with him everywhere. Though timid, he possesses an extremely confident will.
Hiyokuna Shitchi is where the Numa family resides, it is a quiet farming town nestled at the edge of civilization deep within the swamps.

Risks and challenges
Tabi is a completely custom experience and requires a lot of time and help from the amazing people who support our endeavor.
We are not following traditional Comic Book story telling but more of a movie script story base. The intention of this comic is to tell a low dialogue story with a strong and powerful art experience. The challenge with this is story adoption. We are creating two completely separate comic books that release at the same time telling individual yet intertwined tales.
Unlike many comics, Tabi No Hana art and design is done entirely by one person — Brandon Lee Kitajchuk. Penciling, inking, lettering, book design — you name it! Needless to say, this effort consumes his time greatly but he loves it dearly. Though he still works part-time as a freelance web developer, Brandon dreams of working on the comics full-time. With the help of all our amazing friends and you great folks out there we hope to one day see this dream come true. And, hopefully you want it as much as we do!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
