Casey Anthony. Jerry Sandusky. Maine Zumba Madam. The gripping true-life crimes you can’t stop talking about – and neither can we!
Our unique approach to courtroom news gives you everything from actual court documents to an insider’s take on all the most exciting criminal cases.
Have you noticed that most news shows only spend a minute discussing really complex court cases? Aren’t you always dying to know more? What about the people behind the scenes? What’s in those motions and other court documents? You know there’s more to the story than just guilt or innocence, and so does Wild About Trial.
We began Wild About Trial because we saw that exciting criminal cases like the Casey Anthony trial and the Jerry Sandusky case were getting short shrift in the news media. The incomplete coverage of those cases meant that we, as lawyers, noticed a lot of errors, misinformation and biased reporting.
We love the everyday drama of the courtroom – that’s why we became lawyers! And we want to share our world with you and have fun while doing it. That’s what Wild About Trial is all about.
This will be the show for trial enthusiasts who need to know more.
Wild About Trial has already developed the only mobile application with gavel-to-gavel news coverage and expert legal commentary on the nation's most exciting criminal trials. Now we are ready to take it to the next level. That's right, Wild About Trial is going Hollywood!
You have already seen our founder and CEO, attorney Alison Triessl, on CNN, Good Morning America, The Today Show, Anderson, Jane Velez-Mitchell, The Insider and KTLA, you have heard her giving her take on the Jim Rome show, and you've watched our You Tube channel that features prominent criminal law specialists discussing the major cases of the day with their own unique style of breezy, frank commentary. It's time to create a television pilot!
We are raising funds to create and promote a pilot for a Wild About Trial television show, which we will pitch to major television producers in the hope of establishing a Wild About Trial television show or an embedded segment in a news program. This step represents the next phase in developing our brand, which provides up-to-the-minute news coverage of major criminal trials, along with exclusive features like court documents, biographies of the defendants, lawyers, judges and victims, detailed analysis of the charges and potential punishment, and intelligent, accessible legal commentary from our team of attorneys.
To truly understand what Wild About Trial is capable of, our mobile app is free to download in the iTunes Store and Google Play. Please check us out and support our TV project with a donation in exchange for one of our great gifts, including the opportunity to be a part of our team by suggesting a new case for us to cover, submitting your questions about the cases or even joining our team as a one-time on-air reporter! One of our most unique rewards is an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at Pasadena Recovery Center, where the TV shows Celebrity Rehab and Rehab with Dr. Drew are filmed.
We’re excited to start the next phase of Wild About Trial’s development, but we can’t do it without you! By contributing to this project, you are ensuring that the criminal trials you are obsessed with will get the kind of comprehensive coverage and smart analysis that most news shows just gloss over. Your donation will help sponsor smart legal reporting and nuanced commentary from a team of lawyers who, like you, love nothing more than discussing the big cases of the day.
To Infinity and Beyond!
Any donations we receive that go above and beyond our goal for creating a pilot will be used to further improve the entire brand by increasing our coverage and providing exciting upgrades to our website and app features, giving more access and content back to our users. We will be able to increase our reporting and analysis to cover more celebrity trials, athletes behaving badly, and the civil cases like the McCourt divorce that shocked us all. We will also be able to provide more field reporters, more live streaming from the courtroom, and more of the legal commentary you are looking for.
Our goal is to provide you, the user, with the ultimate experience in trial coverage. Our original offerings have had rave reviews and provide an easy to use interface on any smart phone, iPad, or web browser. With your support we hope to further improve your experience by implementing Push Notifications on the app, new user interfaces on the app and website, a custom WAT video player on all videos, social networking integration such as Facebook commenting on the website and the ability to have a more in-depth profile and communicate with others on the site, the ability for users to write posts and submit their own content, and possibly a separate iPad app with better user interface than the current iPad app.
With your support we can bring you into more courtrooms and provide more features from the comfort of your television, computer or mobile device.
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
There is of course a risk that Wild About Trial will not be successful. We know that we have put in the time developing relationships with people within the television industry and that our pilot will be seriously considered by people who have the ability to make our dreams come true. However, due to elements completely out of our control, we may not be picked up. With your generous help, we will produce a quality product no matter what, and we will be diligent in promoting our show.
There are very low risks involved in shipping the merchandise rewards because we have an established relationship with a supplier for the Wild About Trial mouse pads, iPhone/iPad/Android cleaning cloths, iPhone 4 or 4S/Android cases, tote bags, and the gavel paperweight. Please allow extra time to receive the gavel paperweight as they require more time to make. If the phone case does not fit your iPhone 4 or 4S/Android you can return it and we will provide you with one that hopefully fits. With all of the merchandise rewards there is a risk that a shipment will get lost in the mail or intercepted by TMZ reporters, please email us if you have any problems receiving your reward and we will do our best to replace it. Please allow 6-8 weeks (hopefully sooner) from the end of the Kickstarter campaign until you receive your reward.
The personalized Skype chat reward will be with at least two of our legal experts. You will be able to select which two attorneys you prefer to Skype with, but as the Wild About Trial legal experts are all practicing attorneys there may be scheduling difficulties. We will do our best to provide your two favorite legal experts, but no matter what you are guaranteed to speak with two Wild About Trial attorneys.
All of our filmings take place in or around the Los Angeles area. Travel expenses and lodging are not provided for those supporters that will be able to sit in on a taping because it is honestly cost-prohibitive. However, we will treat you to lunch and you can chat with the Wild About Trial staff. There is also a rotation of legal commentators for each filming session so there are no guarantees which legal experts will be present at the filming, but we will gladly listen to your preferences and try to schedule a day when you can see your favorite legal experts.
A tour of the Pasadena Recovery Center is subject to the rules and regulations of the Pasadena Recovery Center. The major issue with this reward is simply scheduling a day when you, Alison Triessl, Bob, and Shelley are all available for the tour.
Choosing a case for Wild About Trial to cover is an exciting opportunity because there are so many interesting cases going on throughout the country. This is an opportunity to choose a case that particularly interests you, whether or not the mainstream media is covering it. However, every State and local courtroom has a different policy about releasing court documents, allowing live video inside the courtroom, and providing access to the public. Therefore, there are certain cases Wild About Trial will not be able to cover as fully as other cases. There are enhanced restrictions for cases involving juveniles, sexual assault victims, and cases with judicially imposed gag orders. We will do our best to provide you with everything that is publicly available and of course provide our unique brand of legal commentary and analysis.
There are potentially major scheduling risks involved in arranging a guest appearance in our pilot because there is no set schedule as of yet for when filming will take place. The timetable will of course be based upon the amount of support we receive from our Kickstarter campaign. However, we will do our best to resolve any scheduling conflicts or, alternatively, we will try and find a way to get you on film for your TV appearance using a different method (i.e. Skype, filming you at one of our normal Wild About Trial filming sessions, etc.). The pilot will be filmed in or around Los Angeles and travel expenses and lodging will not be provided.
Our top reward, the ability to report on one of our cases for the pilot, is subject to the same risks as the paragraph above. If you can get yourself to the greater Los Angeles area, we will get you on camera for your debut as a TV reporter! Travel expenses and lodging not included. Based upon the importance of filming a successful pilot there may not be much flexibility in choosing the case which you will be able to report on. We will likely have several options available, depending on the TBD format of the pilot, and we will listen to your preferences and work closely with you to choose the perfect case.
