Hello Everybody

Three days to go and I'm just looking at my computer for the first time this weekend.  A lot of you are asking about a mention on "The View".  "The View" is an ABC/Disney owned show and I'm not allowed to make any mention of Kickstarter.  There's the answer.  I feel like I keep repeating myself with all of these "thank you, thank you, thank you" updates but honestly how do you even say thanks to all of you who reached into your pocket - even when you didn't have it, or upped your reward or just wrote some kind words to me?  All I have are the words "thank you" and a promise to make this a great documentary.  It's a bit scary since it's the first time I'm doing this.  And Ellwood, I keep pulling you out of the crowd because you took the bull by the horns when I couldn't - I don't know you but I sure am lucky to have you on my side.  So, here's to the next three days.  I didn't do this the typical way and caught a lot of heat because I'm "Whoopi" and Whoopi's not supposed to be on here because for some reason I'm not supposed to need help.  Well, all of you who have spent the past month working with me on this have all the answers.  This is going to fall where it falls and I'm going to get this project made one way or another.  So, THANK YOU!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend.  My family just arrived from Los Angeles so I'm a happy girl.

I really wish that I could contribute more. I hope enough people find this project and are able to take it over the top. Whoopi said that she will make it happen, and I know she will do just that. The finished product will be a gift to every one. Good Luck, Whoopi. I'm sending out positive energy into the Universe. I'll check in to see the "Happy" finish......

Mary every $ counts! I got the same comments when I started a kickstarter page. Even wealthy people have budgets. Its how they stay wealthy. People where taking bets that I would be broke in 3 years. 5 years and still going. :-) The thing is each project we take on has its own budget and when things happen and they go over budgets kickstarter is a great way to help with that.

Well, I can't put you over the top, but I did pledge! Dang, I wish I had Ellwood's resources, LOL. (GO ELLWOOD!) But I'm happy to have pledged what I did.

I do understand the "Whoopi is wealthy, so why would she need help?" Yeah - net worth isn't cash in hand. My family thinks I'm wealthy because my house is paid off - but that doesn't pay the taxes or worse, the medical bills. Money tied up with other obligations just isn't there!

Whoopi Don't listen to those negative people. We got your back. I had the same negative feedback when I started a page. So I totally know where you are coming from. Once this project is made they all are going to want to see it!!!

Have a great time with your family, Whoopi. I've upped my pledge and hope to see this project become the reality it deserves to be. Thank you for being you!

Whoopi you are great! Enjoy your family! I'm going to keep pushing as much as I can. We will make it. We might go to the wire, but we will make it. I know exactly where you are coming from. I totally get it. No more thanks are necessary! You have thanked us all!

What goes around comes around...and by your offering everyone a chance to be a part of this project, you aren't just asking for help but are truly letting everyone who wants to be a part of something they never ever could have had an opportunity to do without you, so we thank YOU Whoopi. Hope you enjoyed your time with your family, and even though you cannot mention this on The View, all of us watching know and feel that connection to you. Best of luck, one day at a time, and way to go...

I think this is an important project and I will up my pledge a little more. Also, please don't let people get you down with the "you're Whoopi Goldberg, you don't need Kickstarter" bit. You're right, sometimes people need a little help, and I think it's great that I (a person in no way connected to the entertainment industry) can be a little part of something like this. Besides, another project led by very experienced people (Bridegroom) was recently funded on this site. One might use the same argument, that they could get funding another way, but I backed that project because I felt it was deserving and I'm backing this project for the same reason. Keep up the good work!

      My Dear Whoopi,
I don't need any mention anywhere or any acknowledgement that I gave the little bit I could afford, though it certainly is little enough. I just want you to do this documentary. It's important that Moms' story get out there. I was a huge fan of hers when I was very small, and I am so thankful that someone who knows how to do these things is finally honoring her. She was a pioneer not only for women in comedy, but for all women. She stood up and did what she did and gave me the courage to reach for my dreams. God bless Moms for her courage, her humor, her beautiful Jazz voice, and God bless you for bringing her story to life.

Have a wonderful time with your family!

That actually pisses me off that the view won't let you talk about this

I remember Moms with great fondness. So happy you are doing this. I don't know if it helped, but I forwarded your plea to all the SciFi and Star Trek fans I know. The lists hit hundreds so at least I spread the word.

Thanks for the updates -- I just know you will get what you need.
