The definitive olive oil cook book, from people who know.
As olive oil producers, we’ve tasted and cooked with some of the best olive oils in the world. Over the years, as a result, we’ve amassed a collection of the very best olive oil recipes. Sounds idyllic right? The only problem is that our treasure trove is currently languishing in piles of olive oil-stained, disintegrating notebooks and scraps of urgently-ripped-out paper. So we’ve set ourselves the mission to shape them up into a state where we’d be proud to share them with you – in the form of the world’s most beautiful olive oil recipe book. We would love you to be a part of this mission.
What’s in the book
The book will include over 100 recipes from olive oil producing regions all over the world – from Italy to Morocco, Greece to California. The recipes, which include both modern takes on classic recipes and new inventions, are above all simple and delicious. This is NOT a book of complicated show-off recipes which take hours of preparation and a team of ten to make; they are beautiful, unpretentious recipes which have been tried and tested in family homes, often over several generations. We have a fantastic photographer, Jean Cazals, on board; he will help ensure that the book will be a gorgeous coffee table book to pore over as well as your indispensable kitchen companion.

Jason and Cathy set up Nudo nearly 10 years ago when they bought an abandoned olive grove and moved to rural Italy with their young daughter in tow. They set up a program which allows people to adopt their own Italian olive tree. The program brings producers and consumers closer together and helps to support artisanal farming practices in the beautiful east coast of Italy.
We’ve cut the budget to the bone, but we want the book not just to be a fantastic resource in your kitchen but also to look and feel beautiful. None of the money raised is ending up in our pockets (boohoo!) but is going straight to the following:
Photography - we have a brilliant photographer called Jean Cazals. He’s worked on books for Jamie Oliver, Gordon Ramsey and Anthony Bourdain.
Book design – we have an amazingly talented graphic designer called Lisa Pettibone who has produced many award winning cook books.
Field trips - We are planning short trips to Italy, Morocco and New York to make beautiful photographs and to go to the homelands of some of our recipes. We will be couch-hopping and relying on favours in order to keep costs down.
Testing the recipes – even though the recipes come from us or chefs, friends and colleagues, they still need to be double-checked. A rogue extra tablespoon of spice will make or break a recipe.
Printing the book – we hope that the book will be printed by a family run business in Italy.

A baby is due to be born somewhere in the middle of this process. But since it’s number 3 we’re old hands and hope it won’t slow things down too much! We’re looking to get the project off the ground as soon as possible, well before we hit our Christmas / Holiday season mania, and in time to start photographing olive groves in the spring and summer.
