So this product is never coming. I understand the backing and pledging, not a pre-order... But can you refund me the shipping? I doubt it, but figured I'd ask.
The update is laughable. I work in duct a a month for a quote is not something that should be a reality. I can get a work prototype of a electronic product form conception in a few days. Design and QC is key and takes time along with refining tooling but 3.5 weeks to calculate parts, costs and production time simply some one not interested in making it for you.
This project was backed by me when the I phone 5 was just released.....Why is this (thought I would remove this word because it says "be respectful and considerate") still giving updates..... Does he really believe he can still finish this. I mean really? The money is Looooong gone. He should be banned from any crowdfunded project forever.
We are now a couple of generations of iphones from the original start of this project. I have ordered the iPhone 7 Plus and I am wondering, if and when, you do go into production, what version will I be getting>
Who here would like a refund? I would!!!!
If I can't get my money back in 30 days I will be contacting the Department of Justice.
Check out this story of another product that never made it in people's hands...
Wahey! You've done it
I seriously can't believe the snivelling, ungrateful assholes that permeate this crowdfunding circle. People that are too stupid and lazy to accept or even read the risks in crowdfunding and what they are actually paying their money towards.
If you don't want the iexpander, grow up and move on
You personally funded near heart attacks, sleepless months, endless stress and more grey hair for Corrie. So at least be grateful for that and piss off and buy the case you want from Amazon and support the corporate tax evaders, if you are intelligent enough to understand what that is about......
Well done Corrie.
From Scotland.
All you whiners signed up and knew in some cases it took extra long or didnt work out at all, so stop your whining. I am probably the brokest person on this project and you don't see me bitchin, it was only a few bucks anyways & I bought 2. If you are concerned about $$ sell them on ebay when you get yours and STFU.
I am sorry for your predicament. You have had much adversity but at the same time you are carrying all your supporters in th "black hole" of what was a good idea on paper but never has materialized.
I again believe that you need to make an offer of money return to investors who have backed you these 2-3 years. I had a 4S when you started and soon will be buying a 7. This product will be useless to me and the hundreds of others who trusted you.
Do yourself and your backers a favor and over an opt-out offer.
Please stop the project. It's not even funny anymore to receive updates of yet another failure.
Read a book, e.g. Lean Startup
You wil get some hints on when to continue or when to end a story.
Reading these comments I sense two opposing voices. The first is he tried and nothing was guaranteed and the second is give me my money back. What I think we would like is just an honest report stating that he tried and failed and then apologize. I do not want my money back but am insulted by the comments that seem to imply that the project is still moving forward. No one would continue to put money into a losing venture. That being said, I will still continue to read through these comments from time to time.
His latest update is, as most of his progress emails have been, a total joke of a "document". Meaningless words and figures on a page. At this point, I have lost all trust and faith that I will ever receive anything from Charlie, be it a working prototype or a financial recompense of some sort.
Charlie, I wouldn't believe you if you told me water was wet. You're a scam and a fraud and a total loser.
really hard to believe that 5 months ago the 20 boards were completed and being testing for the video transfer and now we have boards that don't even recognize a phone and they had to send them to another group to trouble shoot. makes you wonder what the team in india was doing for so long then they were testing the boards.
This post is for the many people who feel compelled to remind us that Kickstarter is not a store, that we're not entitled to refunds, we backed a project (vs. making a purchase), etc. I think the majority of us get that, but that does NOT mean we have no rights or entitlements. Charlie has an obligation to fulfill the reward or refund the backers' money (less Kickstarter fees). From what I can tell, there is no deadline or threshold where we, as backers, can say he failed to fulfill the reward; as long as he continues to provide regular updates, the project is simply "delayed." I would not be surprised at all if his plan (probably at the advice of a lawyer) is to just keep posting updates, any updates, no matter how relevant, as long as he can continue to show (or more accurately, perpetuate the illusion) that the project is continuing to move forward.
I didn't mind the delays, and for the longest time I just felt bad for Charlie. Like many other backers, I no longer have any use for the iXpander. I know how to diasable the updates so I won't receive them anymore, but at this point I keep them coming out of curiosity. I wonder how long he can keep this up.
Charlie has an obligation to his backers, and it seems he has found the loophole he needs to avoid defaulting on his obligation -- keep the updates coming, in a timely manner, with statements of activity or progress, regardless of how infinitesimal.
From Kickstarter Terms of Use:
When a project is successfully funded, the creator must complete the project and fulfill each reward. Once a creator has done so, they’ve satisfied their obligation to their backers.
Throughout the process, creators owe their backers a high standard of effort, honest communication, and a dedication to bringing the project to life. At the same time, backers must understand that when they back a project, they’re helping to create something new — not ordering something that already exists. There may be changes or delays, and there’s a chance something could happen that prevents the creator from being able to finish the project as promised.
If a creator is unable to complete their project and fulfill rewards, they’ve failed to live up to the basic obligations of this agreement. To right this, they must make every reasonable effort to find another way of bringing the project to the best possible conclusion for backers. A creator in this position has only remedied the situation and met their obligations to backers if:
they post an update that explains what work has been done, how funds were used, and what prevents them from finishing the project as planned;
they work diligently and in good faith to bring the project to the best possible conclusion in a timeframe that’s communicated to backers;
they’re able to demonstrate that they’ve used funds appropriately and made every reasonable effort to complete the project as promised;
they’ve been honest, and have made no material misrepresentations in their communication to backers; and
they offer to return any remaining funds to backers who have not received their reward (in proportion to the amounts pledged), or else explain how those funds will be used to complete the project in some alternate form.
The creator is solely responsible for fulfilling the promises made in their project. If they’re unable to satisfy the terms of this agreement, they may be subject to legal action by backers.
How do i opt out of getting these stupid pointless updates? I'm trying to forget about this project and the fact that i was dumb enough to invest in this. I'm reminded of how much of an idiot i am with every update. Its been years since this project started and there has been no progress. Fuck this project and fuck you Charlie.
I contacted Charlie about two weeks ago now because he said that we should write directly to him when we have quuestions. And guess what happened?
I never got an answer. I want my money back, too. Very awful experience with this 'project'. One-sided 'comunication' (or should I say monologues by the creator) on 5 billion 'updates' with no value about a product 99% of the backers don't want anymore.

Bless your heart. I have gotten past my anger, the feeling of being used, even the regret of making a bad investment... and I see this project with a certain tenderness. Yep, that's right.
The world was a much different place for me in the days when I backed this product. I've come to look at it as kind-of a dear, well-meaning, friend with autism. They want to connect so badly but just can't. Take your time Charlie. Do what you gotta' do. Me carping at your isn't going to change anything... and I'm finally OK with that.
Totally agree very well said Eric Jackson!! I have actually told them were to stick this bullshit project! And my freedom of speech was deleted but the bullshit censorship police!! This product is Obsolete!! And pisses me off too! I do not have a IPhone or probably Never will again! I like my Expandable memory better screen and not locked to the IOS! So this will do nothing for ME! The best I could do is try to sell it but probably would not get 2 cents for it because I will never see this item!! This guy is dreaming of actually making this. I don't believe his Bullshit lies! It's been 3+ years & Obsolete!!
It seems the technology has passed this project by, Charlie. The iPhone 6 has dramatically improved photo quality, you can buy a 64 gig lightening connector memory module for 29 bucks, and battery life cases have been out forever. I'm not sure what use this will be.

Legitimate question.
I am not an iPhone user anymore, haven't been for a good number of years and my partner wouldn't use this device.
Is anyone interested in purchasing it from me? I'm only looking for the pledge amount of $75.
