Our mission is to make water taste better eliminating the desire people encounter before purchasing unhealthy drinks. We provide health conscious individuals with a water bottle, which enables them to "Twist-N-Press" flavour and nutrients from natural ingredients creating a tasty alternative to sugary drinks. Consuming the recommended amount of water can be a chore; we offer a tool that creates a desire to consume more water
Pressa is the first reusable water bottle that creates pressed water. It is a 710ml (24oz) reusable bottle made from high quality plastic that is both BPA free and dishwasher safe. It has a leak proof cap which allows for easy transport and is suitable for any environment. The compressing unit inside the Pressa Bottle allows for almost any combination of fruits and vegetables to be pressed into your water, creating a personalized water experience.
Pressa Bottle is the original creator of pressed water. Pressa allows consumers to squeeze fruit/vegetable contents within the bottle flavouring their beverage to their liking. Pressa’s patent pending Twist-N-Press functional capabilities allow users to release flavour and nutrients otherwise trapped inside the fruits or vegetables. Pressa allows consumers to have a flavoured beverage without having to consume all the unnatural sugars other drinks contain. Taste is a large factor for consumers when choosing a beverage. Pressa allows for stronger flavoured water, which encourages users to drink more tap water over other bottled beverages.
Pressa was created to address the problem other fruit infusing water bottles have. This is that the fruits/vegetables inside them just absorb water, leaving them bloated and preventing juice and nutrients from being released. This dated way of infusing water prevents much flavour from ever being released and can be discouraging for consumers in search of a fully flavoured water. Pressa Bottle not only creates fully flavoured water, it allows you to have complete control over how much or how little flavour you'd like.
Pressa’s functional capabilities allow the user to tighten a compressing chamber on the fruit/vegetable contents inside Pressa Bottle, solving the problem all other infusers have. The user simply twists the dial located on top of Pressa, which sends the plunging unit inside the fruit basket downwards. (Twist-N-Press) This squeezes the fruit or vegetable contents into the 710ml (24oz) bottle, making a personalized and fully flavoured water that we call "Pressed Water". The added features Pressa offers do not sacrifice size or style allowing Pressa to be carried anywhere.
When designing Pressa we not only focused on its functional capabilities but also its appearance. Pressa is sleek, elegant, and functional. With its slim design Pressa Bottle doesn't sacrifice functionality, bringing benefits not burden to the user.
In designing Pressa Bottle we focused on every aspect from its fruit pressing capabilities to its comfort on the lips. Pressa Bottes mouth piece has been designed and redesigned to produce what we feel is the most enjoyable drinking experience. A bonus is that it's fun and easy to use. Here is a small demo showcasing a lemon raspberry pressed water!
We want to send our backers their product as fast as we can! Unfortunately we wont be ready for the holiday season but we will have a downloadable card for all backers that have purchased bottles - could make a great gift. ;)
Jesse came up with Pressa Bottle after observing his college roommates frustration using current infusing methods. They would often complain about the lack of flavour being released into their water. Being health and financially conscious college students they wanted to maximize the use of the fruits or vegetables they put in their water. Jesse talked to his brother Luke and they immediately started sketching designs. With Luke’s engineering and 3D printing skills they were able to create the first prototype of Pressa Bottle that week.
After proving our concept we started to turn Prototype #1 a.k.a "Frankenbottle" into something that looked a little more appealing. It took a few revisions but we were able to capture all of the functional attributes Pressa Bottle offers today within a slim, simplistic design.
Upon completion of our prototypes we took our bottle to both Conestoga and Georgian College for consulting from their entrepreneurial programs. They were extremely helpful and after some arrangements from Conestoga College, we were fortunate enough to work with the Accelerator Centre in Waterloo, Ontario.
Curious to see what people thought of Pressa Bottle we took it to every mall, hockey arena and college that had free Wi-Fi for our iPad survey. The results were outstanding, we were able to find an abundance of individuals using current infusing methods all experiencing the problems Pressa Bottle was made to address. We often heard “where can I buy this?” and were even asked to sell the prototype to be used! After several months of market research and showcasing the product to the public we were able to make more revisions to Pressa Bottle based on consumer input. The feedback we gained was amazing and we were able to finalize Pressa Bottle into what you see today.
Risks and challenges
As with most small companies Pressa Bottle has tried to keep manufacturing costs as low as possible while still maintaining the quality standard we desire. We have used many of Co-Founder Luke Hambly’s manufacturing connections and experience to work through prototyping phases. Using new additive manufacturing techniques we have been able to build high quality prototypes to test our product prior to production. We are also pursuing new molding techniques, also made possible by additive manufacturing, that will allow for more efficient processes and faster lead times. This means Pressa Bottle is in your hands quicker!
We plan to ship our product early 2016. If this date is to be changed for any reason we will be sure to provide updates as soon as they are brought to our attention. We want to get Pressa Bottle to you as soon as possible but we need to maintain our high quality standards.
