Back by popular demand are 2 fantastic games by the great designer Stefan Feld: Merlin and Amerigo.
Recently, we've found a way to make our famous "cube tower" out of acrylic. While functionally, the same as the cardboard tower we include in our games, the acrylic tower looks fantastic and make a fine upgrade. To go along with this new component, Amerigo will be re-printed for this kickstarter, providing a great opportunity to get hold of this out of print game. We have also added the popular Merlin, another title by the same desginer.
As a part of our kickstarter special we are also offering you the chance to get Immortals, another game that uses a cube tower, and makes an exciting addition alongside Merlin and Amerigo.
Below are all of the content available in this campaign, including some fantastic deals on packages and a special add-on. Please be aware that we do not use a pledge manager. You will need to pledge during the campaign for whatever items you want.
The cube tower is one of the most iconic game components in Queen Games, acting as a randomizer, and this campaign contains two games which uses the tower in different ways. For this campaign, we are offering an upgrade to the standard cube tower provided in both games to an acrylic tower. The acrylic tower provides an even nicer look to these games.
Please note that the tower appears clear in the graphic to show the layout, but will not be transparent in the final product.
In Amerigo, designed by Stefan Feld for 2-4 players, players take the role of an explorer like Amerigo Vespucci. Journey to discover new lands, plan and build settlements, and collect resources.
Amerigo has an amazing amount of replayability, as the map layout forms differently each time. In addition, the patented dice tower changes the available actions from turn to turn, allowing many strategies that can be pursued to achieve victory.
Through the clever use of a special cube tower, the game play in Amerigo has an innovative mechanism that determines the possible actions a player may take during his or her turn. This creates a game with both a strategic and tactical planning.
Players drop cubes of a particular color (action) into the tower. Each of the 7 cube colors relates to one of the 7 actions a player may take. With the patented tower design, the cubes that are dropped into the tower may not all make it out, and some that were stuck in the tower from previous turns might come out instead. This creates an exciting element that requires the player to adapt to the situation yet still rewards a good overall strategy, capturing the game's theme of exploration and discovery.
In a 4-player game the board is put together using 16 tiles. These tiles are assembled randomly every time you play.
On the board you will see pirate markers, action cubes, progress tokens, victory points track, special actions track, and commodities. Progress tokens give the player a specific advantage throughout the game (for example - the second tile from the right has the player receiving two gold every time he or she defeats the pirates...yes you will be fighting pirates in this game!)
Once you have landed your ship on an island, you can plan and build your settlements. This allows you to gather resources and earn victory points.
Don’t forget that there are pirates sailing the high seas! You must have your cannons loaded to protect yourself from the pirates. If you don’t have the cannons needed, then you suffer the consequences!
In Amerigo, you take the role of an explorer, discovering new lands, fighting pirates, and building settlements...your journey awaits!
Three Queenies await:
More gold you say? Add the Queenie 1 Mini Expansion to your game to gain more gold. The mini-expansion contains 1 volcano island tile, which is added when setting up the island area, and 6 gold tiles. When a player builds over a space with the gold tile they receive that amount of gold shown on the tile.
The Amerigo Queenie 2 mini expansion allows for lots of smaller islands or big islands. It contains 2 island tiles and 6 progress tokens which give special actions throughout the game.
When playing with Amerigo Queenie 3 mini expansion, players can acquire a production building instead of a neutral landscape tile, and also gain a special production token if built using the green action: Build. Contains 4 production building tiles and also includes 5 special production tokens.
“Merlin” by the popular designers Stefan Feld and Michael Rieneck offers 2-4 players a uniquely enjoyable experience.
King Arthur is looking for a worthy successor to his throne. Together with Merlin, he seeks the best candidate from among the Knights of the Round Table. Each player assumes the role of a Knight of the Round Table and attempts to win King Arthur’s favor.
By using their dice, the players move Merlin or their own knight on the action-rondel. The space where they end the movement specifies their possible action. Each player controls the movement of their own knight, whereas Merlin can be moved by all players.
Three scorings take place during the course of the game. The players have to repel the traitors and can gain victory points for their constructed manors in the environs, for their influence in principalities, and for their henchmen placed on the game board. Additionally, the players may complete missions in order to gain further victory points during the game. After six rounds, the player who has most effectively used their dice to navigate the rondel to complete missions and take advantage of the interim scorings, thus accumulating the most victory points, will become King Arthur’s successor.
Merlin offers a lot of strategical and tactical choices in its pleasant 75 minutes of game time.
Expansion module: King’s Favor
King’s Favor is meant for advanced players and players who have played the basic game a few times and want a new challenge. When resolving a mission card, players now have the choice to either take the victory points, or learn a new ability for the rest of the game. Which ability they can learn depends on the number of victory points and the henchman icon on the card. The player who chooses the best abilities for their strategy and knows when better to take points will have the advantage over his opponents.
1. Treasures of the environs
With Treasures of the Environs players gain a lot of new choices when building a manor in the environs.
Now every terrain tile awards a special action, from gaining an extra Merlin staff to forcing your fellow players to discard one of their hard earned shields, flags or construction materials. Players not only have to look where they can earn the most victory points, but also search for the action they would benefit the most of.
2. The King's Decree
In the “King’s Decree”, players are presented with another difficult choice in the six principality spaces.
Instead of taking the action of the placed henchmen, the player can choose to take a decree instead. These decrees could provide building materials, shields, or flags not associated with that principality, or give the player additional victory points. Sets of decrees can also be turned in for special actions as well. These range from manipulating the dice to gathering specific resources to outright victory points.
“Immortals” is the collective effort by acclaimed designers Mike Elliott and Dirk Henn.
Taking the beloved strategy game “Shogun," refining its core mechanics and adding new and unique gameplay to enjoy for newcomers and veterans alike.
Set in a rich fantasy themed world, the players are warlords, controlling different tribes, and fighting for control of two worlds to determine who will rule over light and shadow. Death, once dreaded by mortals, has been overcome. Armies that die in the world of light are resurrected in the shadow world and vice versa. Players struggle for domination in both worlds and have to constantly adapt to the ever changing battlefields of this eternal war.
Controlling the regions, the main cities and shrines at the end of each round will award precious victory points. The unique and fascinating dice tower is here again, determining the outcome of the many battles fought in Immortals.
The game board is split into two worlds: Light and Shadow. This offers player a unique challenge, forcing them to watch two battlefields and adjust their planning accordingly.
Furthermore portals can be build between the two worlds and defeated armies in one world can be swiftly resurrected in the other world to reinforce a region or create an attack opportunity seemingly out of nowhere!
Battles in regions are resolved with the clever and unique dice tower mechanic. All armies are thrown in the dice tower, and whoever has more armies falling out of the tower is the winner of the battle. The dice tower randomly holds back armies but also releases armies that were stuck there from a previous battles. This means that the outcome of each battle has uncertainty, but the randomness is minimized over the entire game.
Points are awarded at the end of each round for controlled regions and buildings in these controlled regions. But be careful, next round someone might steal your region with a building and then he will earn the points for the building. So always be aware of where you invest you money to build a building!
You plan your moves in a round using the region and conflict cards on your player board which consists of two tribes, one from the light, the other from the shadow world. Planning is done simultaneously and in secret, so whoever has the better plan will be the winner of Immortals!
Production and Delivery
The Production of Amerigo, and Immortals is planned for September 2018. Once produced, we plan to ship the pledges out to the backers as soon as possible. All shipments will be done directly from our warehouse in Germany.
Queen Games is not responsible for any local charges, customs and/or lost packages due to local postal service. We will not reimburse you if that is the case. Sending a pledge a second time, if the first package did not make it due to one of the above mentioned reasons, can only be offered if the backer covers the shipping cost in full.
For Brazil: We are working with a local distributor in Brazil, who we will ship the packages too and they will forward the packages to their final destination. That way we are certain to have more success that packages arrive in good condition. But that also means packages might be delayed up to 3 month.
Please make sure, that the address you are using and you note down in the survey following this campaign is up to date and written in English.
Risks and challenges

We know about the Kickstarter challenges, such as coordination of production from multiple manufacturers, delays with production and shipping, challenges with shipping around the world and missing or lost packages.
Also, despite sending the rewards at the same time, backers in different regions of the world may receive their rewards sooner than others because of logistics of international shipping.
By pledging to this project, you acknowledge that the name, final look and materials of the project and hence the rewards, are subject to change and may differ from what is presented while the Kickstarter campaign was active.
If you do not accept these terms, please do not pledge on this project but instead wait for the general release.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
