sticKnife : Discret, Elegant and original pocket knife
Retractable knife machined in the mass with precision, clean and elegant design. Discreet, solid and customizable - RWL34T or Damascus
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Fri, March 1 2019 4:26 PM UTC +00:00.
This pocket knife has been meticulously designed to be both very discreet and original. We wanted to give it an elegant look with a beautiful, sleek design. It is perfect for carrying everywhere, strong and practical. With its retractable blade and ergonomics, it can easily be clipped to your keys or in your pockets for daily use.
We wanted to make a high quality pocket knife, made with choice materials, here is our creation : sticKnife !
All the secret of discretion lies in the retractable blade, this system is very simple and intuitive. With a few turns of the knob at the back of the knife, the blade opens and closes.
It also allows a good compromise of length, it is both small in its closed position but offers a large blade when opened.
The entire mechanism is made of materials that are not sensitive to corrosion, avoiding any risk of seizing.
Screw, unscrew and adjust the blade size as required!
For this blade, we have chosen the best in terms of corrosion resistance and hardness.
We believe that today, the steel created by powder metallurgy is superior in every respect and that it is irrevocably the future of cutlery.
That is why we have chosen Damasteel® RWL34T steel.
This Swedish stainless steel is very robust with a 62 HRC, it is an excellent combination of hardness and flexibility for a blade ready to face the wear of time.
It is true that it is still a fairly expensive steel, but we only want high quality for this project.
Best of all, this type of steel complies with European standards for food cutlery, what more could you ask for?
But we are also very big fans of Damascus, it was inconceivable to make a knife without proposing damascus, that's why we chose to offer you a design that matches the size of the blade perfectly.
The blade edge has been studied at length: we have opted for a convex type for two main reasons, the first, to keep a maximum of material to the end, the second, to have an exceptional edge. It should not be forgotten that the blades are very thin on pocket knives and are subject to high mechanical stress. This is why we have adopted this type of blade, especially since it adds an unusual aesthetic aspect (especially in PVD!).
The body design has been studied for a good grip and a large enough grip for a good cutting support.
Made of aircraft grade aluminum, guaranteeing a quality product.
All parts of the body are anodized, giving the aluminum a hardness that prevents tarnishing and brittleness, adding a beautiful matte finish.
The knife mechanism that allows the blade to be closed and opened is carefully designed, in fact, the mechanism has been designed for durability and requires high precision in manufacture with controlled tolerances.
This mechanism allows the blade to be adjusted to the desired height, for example, to open a box without damaging its contents!
- Material: Aircraft Aluminium
- Finishing: Anodizing
- Colours: Aluminium or Black
- Length: 78mm
- Diameter: ⌀16mm
- Opening and closing mechanism
- Material: Damasteel® RWL34T or Damascus
- Shape: Round or Beveled
- Finishing: Standard or Black PVD
- Length: 45mm
- Width: 12mm
- Thickness: 2mm
- Weight: 43g
- Closed length: 78mm
- Open length: 123mm
The parts are machined from the mass using CNC-controlled machines, which allows high-precision machining with a perfect finish.
You can customize the knife to match 100% with yourself.
Adopt for a rounded blade with a more common design or a beveled blade that gives an aggressive and unusual look.
We aim for a fast timeline, we know how frustrating it is to wait for a product too long. That is why we are targeting a delivery as from May.
If our production ends faster than expected, we will ship the products before May!
Risks and challenges
All manufacturing is carried out in our premises from A to Z (except for the heat treatment of the blade and anodizing), which allows us to control manufacturing times.
There is always the risk of being over-financed, which generates a large amount of work and potentially a risk of production delays, but in this case, we know the field well and we have partners in the business who are already aware of it and who are ready to take on part of the manufacturing.
In any case, we will be transparent about the manufacturing process and messages will be sent to all contributors for a follow-up of the manufacturing process.
To sum up, apart from a meteorite that has decided to land on our workshop, this project will leave our premises in due course!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
