Hey friends! It's your pal Sush here. I am trying this new thing called a crowdfunding campaign for my brand-spankin' new series, The Island. It's a gritty little romance about two very unlucky souls who happen to find themselves marooned on an island and is the first book in a smashingly delicious trilogy.
Although I usually make back my book costs within a few weeks, I wanted to try out crowdfunding as a way not only to offset costs a little quicker, but so I can get this book in your hands sooner! The release date isn't until April 26, but backers will get theirs around the first week of February* (*or as soon as I get the files through Ingram's slow approval process).
Besides a book, what are you paying for? Pretty simple: A book with line edits from the amazing Dani (~$300) and a cover from the amazing Anita at Race Point (~$400). Plus the cost to print books and ship swag (varying costs, but generally more stuff=more cost!). My goal is pretty low for this first kickstarter - only $400. If we make it, I'm planning on adding some stretch goals, like those Razia short stories that I've owed to you guys.
The campaign will start on January 4th and run until January 15th. I'm going to need YOUR help to spread the word. Along the way there will be tons of fun giveaways and contests, so even if you can't contribute, stick around for the fun.
I'm also hosting a Twitter Chat on January 12th, where you can win a $10 prize pack!
Risks and challenges
Risk: I'll hate the book!
Mitigation: The first couple of chapters are available on Wattpad now!
Risk: You'll never finish the book
Mitigation: BOOM! Book is done and everything's already been paid for. This is to offset costs already paid, and also to get the finished product in your hands weeks before anyone else.
Risk: You'll never finish the series.
Mitigation: C'mon y'all, this is me. The Chasm (Book 2) will be available July 16th (currently on schedule at 50% complete) and The Union (Book 3) is planned for Valentine's Day 2017. And they're both deliciously angsty.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
