About this project
Who is Focus-Dynamics?
What is Rotato?
Rotato is a motorized monitor accessory that mounts between your existing monitor and your mount/stand. Rotato provides consistent monitor rotation, and a streamlined viewing experience. With Rotato, when you need to rotate your monitor, the press of a simple hotkey will rotate your physical monitor as well as orient your desktop to match. There is no need to adjust your monitor to make sure it is level, nor to rotate the operating system screen separately. Rotato does both for you simultaneously!. Rotato will consistently put your screen in the same horizontal or vertical position every time. With a built in extension plate, Rotato offers different mounting heights for different-sized monitors to accommodate the higher mounting heights needed when the monitor is rotated in the vertical position. (So it won't hit your desk) If Rotato ever detects an obstruction it will return to its previous resting position. This is all done with a single USB connection. No separate power connection is required.
Windows only (other potential operating systems will be a stretch goal if there is enough interest)
VESA 100mmx100mm (see stretch goals for other potential VESA options) (What is VESA?)
Ball bearings for smooth rotation
Smooth acceleration and deceleration
Rotato comes with:
4 VESA screws (Monitor to Rotato)
4 screws/nuts (Rotato to stand)
1 USB cable (for communication and power)
$75,000: "Rotato Stand" A monitor stand that will streamline the Rotato experience.
$85,000: Adding support for VESA 200mm X 200mm (this would still cover VESA 100mm x 100mm and would also cover VESA 100mm x 200mm)

Risks and challenges
As a team of engineering professionals we deal with projects like this for our clients every day. With over 40+ years of combined experience, we are excited to begin production and bring Rotato to you and your monitor.
As with any new entrepreneurial adventure, there may be unanticipated delays. You, the backer, can rest easy knowing that if any issues arise, you will be updated immediately. Because we have working prototypes, we have already anticipated and solved many of our initial hurdles.
Assembling a single Rotato from start to finish takes about 20 minutes. Initially, we might be overwhelmed with demand and would have to take time to find and train more workers. But because we have working prototypes, we have already worked out some of the supply chain issues in advance, which should give us a head start on any problems when they arise. You are a part of this, and we can't do this without your help and support.
