What is Dangers Untold?
Dangers Untold is a beginner-friendly, live action roleplaying game for 3-8 players aged 12 and up. You and your friends use the system and advice in this book to tell stories about a heroic girl in a strange land.
This game is inspired by a tabletop roleplaying game called Heroine, which enables you and your friends to tell this sort of story while sitting together, talking. In Dangers Untold, however you will act out the events of a story. It feels less like a campfire tale and more like a stageplay.
Because this is a beginner-friendly game, you don't need any previous experience with roleplaying games, live action or otherwise in order to play. For example, you don't need to know how to play Heroine in order to play this game. Just read through a copy of the Dangers Untold book, grab a few friends, and you are ready to play.
Like Heroine this book will contain art from award-winning photographer JR Blackwell and layout by award-winning layout artist Daniel Solis. Shoshana Kessock designed the game. She is a previously published LARP designer and fiction writer, as well as a graduate student studying storytelling games, LARP and otherwise. Josh Jordan, podcaster and owner of Ginger Goat, edited the book and is spearheading this Kickstarter project.
Playing Dangers Untold
PDF of the game: You will receive a full-color digital copy of this book, including Shoshana's rules and advice, JR's photos, and Daniel's layout. Our initial estimate is that the game will be between 60 and 100 pages, includiing several half- to full-page photo spreads.
Hard copy of the game: You will receive a full-color, softcover, perfect-bound copy of the book.
Heroine, Girls Elsewhere, and Heroine of Heiankyo: These books already exist. You can find out more about them here.
Invitations, Namebadges, and Character Sheets: These hand-cut and stamped invitations are a great way to encourage your friend to play Dangers Untold. The laminated namebadges will allow them to wear their character name and player role in an easily visible way. The character sheets.will give enough information for you to play a session of the game with no prep. Each backer who receives a set of character sheets will receive eight distinct characters. No other backer will receive the same ones.
Unlockable Settings: Backers who support the game at this level will unlock an alternate setting for all backers who receive a physical copy of the book. Be a heroine or hero to the other backers! Unlock a PDF of your choice from the list below

Risks and challenges
The biggest risk in a project like this is some sort of production delay. It's always possible that one of the collaborators will become ill or suffer a family emergency at an inopportune stage of game design. However, barring acts of God, I believe it is likely that the game will be completed this summer. Each of the collaborators in this project is a professional in her or his field and has completed other game design projects on time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
