Arkon is a fast paced strategy card game, played from one central deck of 52 cards. Players must win clans, either through an interactive bidding process, that functions like an silent auction, or through using their cards as actions, to take other players clans.
Arkon hinges around a few central dynamics. First, cards can be played in multiple ways. Players will constantly be challenged to make tradeoffs, as they choose whether to use a card for some sort of advantage, keep it as a counter or use the card for its influence value to win a bid and move the player closer to winning the game.
Next, Arkon employs a resource system based around silent auction bidding. Because all cards double as influence, and winning bids is a key component of your victory condition, Arkon reduces the "dead card in hand" phenomenon.
• Unique Resource System: In Arkon, to acquire clans to win the game you need to bid for them with influence. What this creates is a dynamic where players on all turns are looking at what they want to bid for and what they are willing to give up in terms of actions.
• Pacing: After talking with our play testers, one of the most unique elements they highlighted was pacing. Most strategy card games are linear. You gather more resources, develop your engine and that creates momentum towards the victory. Arkon manages to have non-linear gameplay, while still making the win condition skill based through the multi-use cards.
• Portable: With 52 cards and only one central deck, Arkon fits inside of a tuck box and can be played anywhere!
• Stunning Art: Although there is a lot of visually beautiful games out there, we think Arkon delivers an incredibly high level of art for a small-box game, and we are really proud of that. We have top end artists and designers that have worked on games from Magic the Gathering to Game of Thrones TCG.
• Replay Value: One of the core focuses while building and testing Arkon was replayability. We play tested the game extensively, with over 200 external blind tests taking place at local gaming stores and meet-ups across California. If you look at reviews on BoardGameGeek from those who have played, we were blown away by the positive feedback!
In Arkon players assume the role of a mysterious outsider who claims to be a fabled mystic from long ago. You enter the world of the Wildlands during a time of great unrest, where war and mistrust have sown deep divisions across the continent. As you wield your influence to amass support, you must choose….will you use that power to bring unity amongst the clans of the Wildlands... or will you seek domination....
This tier is going to come with some pretty epic loot. First off, each backer will receive a custom etched wooden box, with a deeply detailed engraving of the Wildland's world map on the lid. In addition, we will laser etch your name and backer # (or whatever phrase you prefer) on the inside.
Below are some shots from our early prototypes! These will continue to be refined as we play with modifications to the fine details to make this as crisp as possible in the final. THESE ARE NOT FINAL.
On top of that we will include a unique, brand new card in a speciality golden card border. This gold bordered card will ONLY be found at this tier (even if we unlock randomized promos). The art will be done by Joshua Cairos, the artist responsible for many of our stunning compositions and a quickly rising star in the art world.

My name is Casey. This kickstarter represents the culmination of 2 years of work on my gaming companies first product. Through ups and downs, managing of a 9 person team, and thousands of hours, we produced a tabletop game that I think is both beautiful and strategically deep. I was blessed to have the opportunity to work with my family and on something I believe in and for that I am immeasurably grateful.
This section is called, “Our Story” but really, I would love to tell you all about what I learned, why it matters and how that has shaped what we built.
First, when you are working tirelessly on a project that is your baby, your interminable obsession, understand and respect that your team is not always going to be as obsessed as you. This is okay. These are people that are helping turn your vision into reality, and without them I would of never had the beautiful art, videography, cartography and graphic design that is in the game today.
Choose something you care about. For me, gaming represents an amazing way to share a communal experience with people. In a game it doesn’t matter your age, your religion, your race, your politics, your gender, your orientation or your income. It’s about getting together over something common to all of us: a desire to have fun.
Surround yourself with good people. This is easily the most important thing. Entrepreneurship is just flat out hard.
Listen to your playtesters. We playtested this game all across California and for well over a year. Sometimes it was good, sometimes it was harsh (especially at the beginning). Each time we recorded specific feedback on sheets and looked for trends and thus things we could improve. The best feeling in the world was going to our last dozen playtests and realizing that all our iterations and balancing had paid off with a game that was more interactive and more strategic.
Learn that things will go wrong. Packages will get lost. The manufacturing will mis-cut prototypes. Your artists will ask for more money because you tell them to re-do something. Note that #1 this is inevitable and #2 when it comes to your team, take accountability. Your artist didn’t screw up, you screwed up by not giving a detailed and nuanced enough description of what you wanted. Learn and grow from it.
All of these lessons went into shaping what Arkon is. I know you all have a lot of choices when it comes to games. I deeply appreciate you taking the time to look at Arkon, and I hope you will consider our game as an edition to your collection.

Risks and challenges
This is our first Kickstarter and as such, there is always the possibility of delays. That being said, we have some good things going for us. #1 the cards, packaging, art and all design work is 95%+ finished and we just will need to add promotional cards if we hit certain stretch goals.
We have an experienced packaging designer who has worked on high end projects, from Magic the Gathering to Pathfinder. That means less back and forth when we submit files for approval with the manufacturer.
We are also using a well-known manufacturer in Panda, which is a reliable and consistent production house, so that means quicker turn-around and lower risk for malfunctions.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
