Progress Report #1: First steps and a call for designers
Hi, everyone. This is our first post-campaign update to let you know how the project is progressing. We’ll send these out every now and then so that you can keep up-to-date with how things are moving along. Here’s what’s going on this week:
• The books and script have arrived at our letterer, who began scanning and retouching last Friday.
• On the agenda for this week is to look for a high quality, but affordable T-shirt. There weren’t enough T-shirt level pledges for us to order the American Apparel jersey, but as backer Michael Neel pointed out in an Update comment there are probably high quality but more affordable alternatives available. We’ll talk with our supplier about finding something affordable, but comfortable.
• We’re waiting on a quote from our printer for the Math Girls novel hardcover copies to fulfill those pledge rewards. We should be able to order those this week, and forward them to backers next week (depending on delivery times to us, which can fluctuate).
• This week we’ll be creating questionnaires for you to fill out to let us know where you want rewards sent. Please keep an eye out for an email notifying you that the questionnaire is ready, and fill it out as soon as possible. We can’t send you your rewards if we don’t know where to send them to!
We also need to begin work on cover design for the manga. We did the cover for the novel in-house, and IMHO we did okay with that, but we aren’t professional graphics artists by any stretch of the imagination. We’d therefore like to support our supporters by sending a callout for anyone amongst you who does design work, and might be able to take this job on. If you’re a professional designer and would like to be considered for the job, please send us an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) with a link to your portfolio and an estimated cost for doing a book cover (front, back, and spine).
That’s all for now!
