In Short: Hoverloop is a Splitscreen Arcade Arena Combat game.
You will have access to an array of customizable drones, each with it's own unique ability like Teleport, Deathray or Shield.
Fight against or work together with friends in splitscreen/online multiplayer. If you would rather go solo, that's also possible, with AI-Bots in a variety of game modes.
So, the essence of the game:
-Select and customize your drone, choose wisely as each drone has its own unique ability.
-Add Splitscreen players to your game or choose to combat AI-Bots.
-Pick your game mode, there will be a range of 10 game modes to choose from!
-Select your favorite Arena.
Hoverloop will be available for PC & Xbox One. In the future we might expand that to other consoles.
The core idea of the game is to bring gamers back together in their couch, sharing a snack and shouting battle cries at eachother!
We have up to 4-player splitscreen working at the moment. If you'd rather play by yourself, we have implemented some AI-bots to play with.
Each game mode can be played with a various mix of AI and human players. Even the garage where you customize your drone, can be operated in splitscreen mode. The plan for the future is to implement online play as well, but our main focus remains bringing gamers back together again. Why? Who doesn't love splitscreen play?!

Upon release, we will have 10 playable game modes. So that the player can have some variation.
Currently we have 7 working ones, with or without splitscreen/AI-Bots.
-Air Hockey: Bash into and shoot the puck to get it into the enemy goal. Watch out for the OVERDRIVE mode where a battalion of pucks will shoot across the level!
-Battle Royale: You will only have 1 life in this game mode, if you lose it, it's over for you. Try to be the last man standing (or hovering?!) in the arena. As if that's not hard enough, you will also be tormented by the arena... Periodically, it will delete some parts of itself, it will force you into close quarters combat with your enemy. If you fall off of the level, you will die as well!
-Invasion: Endless AI-wave game mode. Each wave will have more enemies in them than the previous one. You can try and survive on your own, but it's a lot more fun to do it in splitscreen with your friends!
-Assault: Mash-up of genres. You will have to capture the enemy flag and retrieve it to your base, but before you can do that, you will have to disable the enemy shield that is blocking entrance to their base. How? Destroy their shield-generators!
-Tag: Think Zombie Tag, one player starts out as the tagger and has to chase other players and tag them. They will then also turn into a tagger. The game ends when everyone has been tagged, or the game timer runs out. (The untagged win)
-Deathmatch: Is there any other gametype that's more familiar? You will be dropped into an arena, where you will have to shoot everything that moves while using your drone's unique ability. (with cooldown) The player with the most kills at the end of the match, wins.
-Team Deathmatch: Exactly the same as Deathmatch, but here you can form teams!
The final 3 game modes will be announced when the social goals are met. Or when the campaign is over!
We are still discovering & creating new game mechanics, like the one below, gravity on the ceiling or on walls!
The player will have a vast choice of drones. Each drone has it's own unique ability, so you will have to think of which drone you will choose for which gametype. Speedboost might be better in Tag, but Deathray will surely be better in Deathmatch!
There will be regular drones that are fully customizable and themed drones. An example of a themed drone is a steampunk drone or a dragon.
You can fully change the materials, colors and brightness of the regular drones and their general design will look more generic. Themed drones on the other hand are uncustomizable, but will look more unique.

We are planning to add more variation in customization options through hats and different drone trails. These will not affect gameplay and be purely cosmetic.
Hats can be anything from a santa hat or an army helmet to a flower or a chandelier.
Drone trails can be anything from sand or mud to fairy dust and rainbows.

Risks and challenges
As this is Not A Company's first title, we still have to gain a crowded community, but that's where you guys come in!
We always plan a small time buffer just ahead of deadlines, but you are never able to plan ahead everything that happens. That goes for indie and AAA developers.
We've chosen to use dedicated servers instead of listen servers, so that the host doesn't have an unfair advantage of 0 lag and we have more control over what flows between client and server. Because of this, we will have to put our servers into the cloud, which is a challenge on its own.
