Welcome to My New York Fashion Week Kickstarter
Hi there, I'm Michelle Pajak-Reynolds and this Kickstarter is for my very first NY Fashion Week Show as a headlining designer!!! This show is a childhood dream come true and it would have never happened if not for the recent recession. Like many artists, I worked a "day job" while pursuing my art part-time. Then in June 2009, my teaching job was eliminated due to state budget cuts. That whole ordeal lit a fire under me and for the past three years I've been 100% focused on pursuing my passion and creating my own job built around my love of making one-of-a-kind couture jewelry. Check out michellepajakreynolds.com to see what I've been up to.
Successfully creating my own job meant nailing down the business side of my hyperactive creative brain. This included getting an Entrepreneurship MBA, networking my ass off, schlepping my collections all across the US and abroad, jumping on every opportunity that comes my way, and "begging, borrowing, and stealing" from all of my friends and family who selflessly give their time and talent to my various projects.
All that blood, sweat, and tears has resulted in partnerships with various fashion designers, fashion stylists, photographers, models, and event producers which has enabled me to show my jewelry at several high-profile fashion shows and red carpet events.
Here's a couple of highlights from the past six months....Check out the press section of my website to see more
Now all of my hard work has led to this Kickstarter. A few weeks ago I was invited to be a headlining designer at a very special show on 9/15 during NY Fashion Week. This means that my collections are the focus of the presentation and will sashay down the runway on models wearing little black dresses with black stilettos so the jewelry really POPS!!!
More about the show
Since my jewelry is the focus of the presentation, there's no fashion designer to split the costs with this time around. So, I'm on the hook for all of the expenses associated with my section of the show, including 15 models, hair & make-up, photography, videography, and my portion of the other venue and promo costs. Being a headliner costs a ton of money. I've sold some big jewelry pieces and scrapped every penny I can to pay some of my travel expenses, show deposits and purchase some raw materials so I can get started on creating a new collection and publish a lookbook for this event. Your support will help me cover the rest of the show expenses along with the production costs of my new collection and lookbook.
About the NEW Collection
My new collection is inspired by all of the amazing women who wear my work. These women are major movers and shakers in their communities and to be blunt, they're moving mountains. They're helping build museums, run internationally recognized hospitals, raise major funds for charity and do the hard thankless work to change the world on top of balancing demanding careers and taking care of their families while always looking fabulous while doing so. So to honor them I've collected some wonderful bold chunky gemstones (reminds me of the mountains they're moving) and will be combining the stones with precious metals, delicate glass beads, and fine fabrics to make bold statement jewelry pieces. Each piece in this collection, like all of my previous work, is 100% designed and handcrafted by me in my studio in Stow, Ohio. I've got a ton of work to do over the next few weeks....
About the Lookbook
Printed lookbooks are a "must have" marketing tool for any designer. They are one of the primary ways retail clients, wholesale buyers and stylists like to review work. I've put several lookbooks together over the years and presenting a beautifully produced book that a potential client can keep, always knocks their socks off and has helped me grow my business. Check out an ebook example of my recent 68 page lookbook featuring work from all of my jewelry collections.
This new 20 page lookbook will be exclusive to my new collection and feature a special thank you page acknowledging all you who support this project. Just to be super fun and sassy, each thank you level is named after the different gemstones that are part of the new collection.
Why you want to be part of this project
Because you'll get awesome stuff (and help an underdog, who will be forever in you debt, beat the odds)!
Each package level, named after those awesome gemstones, offers a wide range of rewards in addition to having your name in my new lookbook. Yes, every single one of you will be recognized! The more you can give to my project, the more awesome it will be. So spread the word on Facebook and Twitter that you've supported my project and help me accomplish a goal that far too many said was impossible!
Rewards will be headed your way in late September (except for VIP tickets-you'll get those sooner) and all shipping costs are already included
Wanna chat or share your "moving a mountain" story? I would love to hear from you. Send an email to email@example.com or call me at 330.554.7560 and who knows, your story might inspire a piece that will be on the runway at NY Fashion Week.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU,
