1 hour to go, packaging, increase, upgrade, a book in the mail, sandy

Posted by Harald Geisler and Thomas Ratliff (Creator)

Dear Backers,

only (about) one hour until the campaign ends.

Far over a hundred-fifty backers, and you personally supported the production of the 2013 Typographic Wall Calendar. Together over eight thousand dollars were pledged.

Thank you very much for the support!

packaging.

Today the packaging material arrived, it's a hilarious amount of material, and a lot of work ahead.

increase.

Keep in mind that you can always adjust the amount pledged. If you like to order a copy for your friends or family, simply add 10$ for each additional copy ($50 for each additional signed print).

upgrade.

Good news for backers in the US. UPS made a very good offer to ship overnight express from Germany to any state in the US for just 24€. The regular ground shipping from Germany (with the national german postservice) costs 16.90€ and takes between two and six weeks. If you wish to upgrade to express, simply add the difference 7.10€ ($9.20). Also for Australia I got an offer for 32€. Backers from Australia can have an UPS express delivery too for additional 15.10€($19.52).

a book in the mail.

Today a book arrived in the mail. Send by Friedrich Müller from the Greogor international Calendar Award. Those of you who also backed the project last year, may remember that the 2012 Typographic Wall Calendar won a prize in that competition.

Part of that prize was to be included in the official Gregor international Calendar Award book. Accompanied by the text from the price jury:

"In an intelligent and charming manner, this one-page calendar shows us how to get used to the new year. This is daily fodder for the gray cells and simultaneously poster-like and attractive"

Well, it always makes me proud to see my work printed in a book and I wanted to share that.

Sandy.

Also here in Germany the screens are flooded with pictures from hurricane Sandy. The Kickstarter headquarters are in Manhattan. 46 people are working there - they recently made a nice site where you can meet them → (http://www.kickstarter.com/team)

The people working at Kickstarter have always supported my work since my first campaign in 2010. For example by featuring the project with interviews, or posts on their blog and newsletter.  Very recently by making the calendar a Staff Pick!

Some of the staff even became backers of the typographic wall calendar! From the Blog today one can find out that the only effect of the Sandy was a delayed flight to London. Well, the images in the media of course are very drastic and dramatic. However, I wanted to express that I do sincerely hope that nothing serious happened to all of you (and all you east coast backers too!), and the delayed flight to your new head quarters in London was the only effect on you guys.

No matter where you are: stay safe!

Harald

Thanks Harald, I remember last year it did take forever to get to Australia but it arrived in perfect condition and has been lovingly on my wall this past year. Thank you.

@Benjamin Munro: Yes, that is correct - I had last year a lot of delays & problems with Deutsche Post /DHL delivering to Australia - good decision. You'll be one of the first ones to receive the prints.

      Greetings from Germany.

Hello from Australia, just wanting to check that I've got this right, I've pledged $49 under the $39 pledge for 2 calendars and added $19.52 for the express UPS totalling $68.52 :-) does this sound right?
