Hand-made ceramic cups made just for you by Pots by Char Pottery.
I am a potter who lives in SE Oklahoma. I make custom hand made pottery. Each piece is unique, no two are exactly alike. When I make something I like to think about the person I am making the piece for. It gives me a warm, wonderful feeling to know that something I have made with my own two hands will be used by others in their everyday lives. There is such a unique connection between the potter and the person who utilizes the pottery. Each piece connects the maker to the user. Each time you use your hand made pottery in your own home, you are interacting with the sincerity and soul of the artisan who created it.
I believe that Kickstarter is a great way to showcase my pottery and raise awareness about hand made functional items we use everyday. The funds that are collected here will be used to offset the cost of the clay, glazes and firings that will be used in making the reward items. As you will note the goal is small as it is only meant to cover costs, but if we can raise more than our costs, any extra will go towards building my studio for when I graduate in December of 2012, just a few months shy of my 70th birthday, with my BFA in Ceramics from Texas A&M University-Commerce. So even after we meet our goal please continue to participate as building materials don't come cheap these days. All contributions and support will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you ever so much.
Attention: Due to the rise in shipping costs I have had to increase the pledge amounts accordingly. I will of course honor those pledges already made at their original amounts. I apologize for this error and hope you will understand.
Unfortunately shipping rates out of the US are a bit high. They range from $12.00 to Canada on up to $20.00 to Singapore. Europe would be similar to Singapore.
All the colors you see in the video plus, blues, greens, some reds,..no yellows or oranges though that one is a low fire cup. The high fire glazes tend to be more on the earth tone spectrum.
I made my first shipment of pottery the other day and found that shipping rates within the US are much higher than I had anticipated. They are nearly as high as shipping to Canada is. I had allowed for approximately 6.00 per piece in my pricing of the pledges, but it looks like it is going to be closer to 9.00 per piece for shipping. So much to my regret I will closing the pledge categories set and making new ones to include this increase in shipping costs.
