Roughly 10 years ago, Mitchell decided to pursue documenting the hotrod community through stills as a personal art project. Being a hot-rodder himself, he felt right at home, meeting interesting characters and making new friends along the way. Currently, Mitchell has shown his work in multiple venues and is in galleries and personal collections across the country. "Spreading the word of the lifestyle."

For over a year and a half now, Mitchell has taken the next step in melding his two passions of hotrods and filmmaking, traveling to car shows, rockabilly events and nostalgic drag races around the country.
What started out as testing new cameras and equipment, literally out in his garage, became "Out in The Garage" Episode 1, of an award winning short series featuring the hotrod culture.
The full length documentary "Out in The Garage" will focus on traditional hot-rodding, the golden age of rodding from roughly 1938-1958. This 20 year span shaped what we think a "hot rod" should be. Men with ingenuity, a little luck and a go devil attitude raced all around the country on dirt roads, tracks, drag strips, dry lakes, and the mother of them all, the Bonneville Salt Flats! There has been a HUGE resurgence in traditional hot-rodding in recent years. Interviews will include old school rodders to newbies getting into the scene, seeing what drives these individuals to push themselves and their rides!
Bonneville Speed Week is right around the corner, August 11-17, 2012! After getting funded, this will be our first shoot specifically for the project!
Filming Bonneville has three parts to it.
First, the documentary; Bonneville is critical to cover and include as a segment in the film.
Second: A complete segment on Bonneville, staying true to the series, will be cut for the web and become "Out in The Garage" Episode 5.
Third: A behind the scenes piece. We will be driving almost 1,600 miles one way, filming the trip and documenting the challenges and solutions we'll encounter as we film at Bonneville.
Thus far, all expenses of travel, lodging, equipment rental and hiring crew has come out of pocket. This initial phase will enable us to help cover travel, partial production costs and achieve some archival footage. Every dollar moves us forward and is deeply appreciated!
Please, pass this along to whomever you think would be interested in an exciting project, and like us on Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/OutInTheGarage
